Turcopoles
« on: January 24, 2015, 07:50:14 PM »
I wanted a unit of Turcopoles for SAGA and rather than buy the Gripping Beast (GB) ones I had a go at combining some of the many remnants of plastics that I had left from previous projects to see if I could achieve the desired effect.
Its not that there's anything wrong with the GB ones but I wanted a go at kit bashing some.
I used Conquest & Warlord horses, bodies were a mix of Conquest Normans and Fireforge knights. I used the Conquest padded/leather armour riders except for the chain mail wearing leader. Heads were from GB vikings & GB Arabs (the helmet wearing one) & one Conquest head. Arms were from Wargames Factory (WF) mostly Persians with the odd Saxon arm. The bow cases were WF the shields were odds & ends from the bits box.
I used green stuff to  try & get a more  eastern look, for example cloth bands around helmets, sashes, longer tunics, baggier trousers, horse blankets.
There are 8 all told, 5 are pictured here.
