Impressive (everyone's results).

One of my clubs started a painting competition at the end of year/Christmas party two years ago. The amout of painting from the group has increased - maybe one day we'll get to this quantity!

Two. The Monday Knights (sporadically) and League of Ancients.

You need to find a club that lets you in, slightly regrets it but is to proud to admit it.  Then it's perfect.  :D

Scurv,
The other option is to start your own.

The beginning of our club was just me and 3 other guys who started gaming every other week at a local FLGS.  4 years later we haven't grown much  (generally average around 4-8 attendees per meeting) But it's a very committed core group of members and our output and gaming has only gotten better.

A club doesn't have to be a chartered organization with a space of it's own.  We now mostly meet in member's homes.   It's almst as much a gathering of friends now as a game club.

I forgot to mention that the picture at the top of the thread is actually the work of fellow forum member Timlillig.  As you can see in the blog not all member's were so prolific.

Meetup is a very good option.  I used it to find a club that I gamed with for a while until I had kids and Saturday night became unworkable.  A few years later the club I helped start used it to find new members.  We left Meetup when we had a good group that was near to overflowing the home gaming spaces we use.

One of the neat things about Meetup is that you know that if the club is on Meetup, they are probably actively looking for new members.

Never heard of Meetup:
http://www.meetup.com/

It's only got 3 wargaming groups in the Melbourne area. I think the most central website in Australia for trying to do this is wargamerau; maybe TMP or dakkadakka, ...but your best bet is here. Or face to face recruitment at Little Wars.

Finding a club is like finding a mate (however you want to interprete that). I found both my wargaming groups at a place that served beer. Says it all really.

Well, you can always find things you don't want during an internet search...
My group uses meetup to keep the diverse membership up to date on the various games as well as lure in new gamers.  The core group has been together for decades but having new people in the mix is refreshing.

Syrinx0's crew makes excellent use of meetup. It's the club I was referring to earlier and was the inspiration for our club's use of it.   If you get to a point where you don't want new members or want to stop paying for use of meetup you can close membership or do what our club does and use Yahoo groups for keeping in touch.

Yahoo is free, but Meetup's interface is better and they have better and more modern features as well as a proper forum feature.
