I'm still in awe at your genius, did you hire a function room or were you contending with the regulars? In which case did you have a stick to fend off any stinky Carol or wandering Bob?

A good way to get interest in the hobby.

Excellent photography, the poses look real and the angles are well thought out, the game looks very natural, complimented by your skill for a good narrative and very nicely presented figures of course

Absolutely brilliant in every way! To see so many quality miniatures, on such a beautiful table, all involved in such a believable tale is awe inspiring. Congrats gents, in particular Captain Blood for that eye candy. My eye keeps getting drawn to those "black armored gents", who really stand out to me amongst that sea of beauty. I'd have been terrified to use those beautifully painted models, for once I'm relieved I can't paint as well.

What really cost me was that I split my archers into three groups (left and right of my main battle plus the party that went out on a limb to the barricade).

The games were held in my local boozers function room...it was closed off to the public. I think the cost of the room hire was about £100?

The pub of course has advantages of ale in close proximity and food on demand.

We will be using the same venue for this years BLAM

I also like to play York as I am part Yorkshire (e by gum) but we rolled for who defended and who attacked and I got the town, which to be honest was probably the best option for my mix of forces.

Not as good as the other game in the room on the day, but you can't have everything.

Well our table was certainly only a quarter the size of yours. But maybe a little more colourful?   

Inspiration for the hobby! Great seeing all those beautiful minis showcased in action on fantastic terrain.

I do have to say though - without false modesty - that the terrain is not all that fantastic really.
I am saddened by the dismal Subbuteo cloths and wonky cardboard roads beloved of so many wargamers.
The 'terrain' in these pictures is just flat MDF squares covered with a bit of sand-and-PVA mix, painted, drybrushed, and flocked. Yes, one or two have bits of road surface added, but it's not exactly advanced modelling.
And carting a few squares of MDF around is really not much harder than bringing a subbuteo cloth. But makes a massive difference to the look of any game. Minimal effort - great effect.
The rest of the terrain is just commercially available resin buildings, hedges, walls and so on. A liberal sprinkling of lichen to help tie it together, plus a few of Silent Invader's rather nice homemade trees.

In short, it looks a lot better than it really is.
And that's because it's on textured boards, not on a flipping cloth!
I wish more people would try it. It's honestly not that hard to achieve.

We were in the pub's function room Stuart. The regulars were next door. But beer and very nice pub grub a few yards away, is a very definite bonus and highly conducive to a good day's wargaming fun with LAF chums. Perhaps think about joining us at BLAM in October (dates TBA) - it would be great to meet and play a game using some of your superb collection

True about the cloth, but at present even that is beyond my meager terrain collection of 2 tombs and a couple of brick walls!

This year is, hopefully, going to be spent trying to build up some terrain once I work out where the hell to store it... so any terrain setup is inspirational... it just helps that it's full of character and comes complete with an interesting battle report too

You are too modest Richard by far. 

I understand about the bit of extra effort of terrain boards over a mat - but your and SI's game goes far beyond that.

Credit where credit is due - this is the type of game most of us dream of being part of.
