Looking good, although if I might, pass comment on the design;

I think I would have made the skis a little longer.

Love the vehicle, I can see that being used in VSF; sightseeing trips along Europa's frozen seas to marvel at the ancient Mer people's ruined monument? (I really like the VSF concept but I must not start another period!)

I was thinking that too but after the amount of grumbling that I did getting the skis together I decided to let the sleeping dog lie so to speak.  I had to carefully cut my fingers apart three times while working on the four skis since superglue does not always instantly bond plastic to wood.  It does however manage to instantly bond the skin on your knuckles together.  When I was lining them up before final fitting they looked right but not quite now.  It is what it is.

When it comes to Superglue I know exactly what you mean.

Finished the pines and laying the groundwork.  The twisted wire pines were only steel wire, unwound twine, sawdust flock, watered down PVA, and Woodland Scenics snow.  I am guessing that the overall cost per tree is around £0.20 per tree.  The groundwork is drying faster this time becasue it is a thinner coat and becasue my wife has unwittingly allowed her hair dryer to be pressed into service.  Unwittingly becasue she left it in the house while I was working on terrain.:D  Here are the trees.

Hope you like.

The trees are great!

Is there a secret recipe when adding the snow? A while ago, I tried to playing with snow (GW and GF9 snow) but never managed to get it powdery like in your pictures.

I do not know what the consistency of the GW/GF9 snow is like.  I used Woodland Scenics so consistency might be part of it.  What I did to add it?  I used spray mount.  Same stuff that you use to temporarily attach paper templates to boards.  I sprayed the trees from the top down, sprinkled snow onto them and then sprayed again to fix them in place.  Once it is set the spray mount does not stay sticky.
Hope that helps.

That's a cracking scratch-build. Very nicely done.  The scenery looks spot-on as well.   8)

Submitted today.  So no more updates or photos. :-[  Thank god since my wife kept hinting that I did not actually need to keep it on the sideboard in the kitchen while I was working on it.  It is now moved while I figure out what I am going to do with it since I have no other terrain set in winter.  I also managed to get my workbench up, applied for twelve jobs  and running and started a new project.  Fairly good week.
