Jim's entry to make up the numbers is continuing!
« on: February 01, 2015, 04:20:14 PM »
I'm doing this to even it all out (and was secretly hoping someone would make it uneven  :D ).

I'll be doing a simple Japanese winter diorama with a frozen river in a town. Only a small one this time but should be fairly pleasing to the eye.

cheers

James

Funny boy  ;D

Just got some bits for now  :D

The blue foam will be carved and the 'water' is mat frosted acrylic. I'll be buying some snow products to give it the deep winter look.

cheers

Wow, that frosted acrylic looks already icy a Pi it has writing on the underside.

I'll be doing a simple Japanese winter diorama with a frozen river in a town.

I've always been fond of this scene:

Only title I have is "A Winter Stream In Old Yokohama, Japan 1868-1912 (Meiji period)"

It's not allthat old, notice the utility poles in the background

I figured I oughta kick this in, though you probably don't need the inspiration distraction reference...

couldn't actually think of his own project

Japan had the telegraph from the mid 1850's so seeing them in contemporary photos is certainly plausible  :)

I've got that one myself somewhere  :)

Wow, that frosted acrylic looks already icy a Pi it has writing on the underside.

The writing is on the backing material and will be removed near the end  :)

cheers

Looks like a load of old JUNK to me and a sunken one to boot  ;)

Get your coat  ;D

Managed to sculpt the stone work. The small bit at the rear is for a drainage channel, there will be building facades behind this. Still thing whether to do half a bridge or not  :?

Very slick.  I was wondering if the embankment would be packed earth or stone.

You were meant to make up the numbers, not win the contest  :( !!!

Really nice piece; there is already something very touching about the scene.

Always enjoy seeing your work come together. Love the detail of the sunken skiff.

Looking great so far.

Assuming on the right is a half sunken boat.

Thanks chaps  :)

Don't worry, my position is still to make up the numbers, I won't be winning anything  :)

Assuming on the right is a half sunken boat.

It is yes, fortunately I had a miscast one that I didn't know what to with until now.

cheers
