Latest Sci-Fi Miniature Paint Jobs
« on: September 20, 2008, 04:20:35 AM »
Painted this odd pair up this week. The human guy is Holt from one of my favorite miniature games of all time, Trinity Battleground. The big Lizard guy is a Ram Python mercenary from the little seen, hard to find Battlelords of the 23rd Century role-play line.

Holt is sculpted by ace pro Bob Naismith, while I am unsure who did the Ram Python, but I sure do like him!

Very cool figures and a really nice paint job.  They remaind me of Kirk fighting the Gorn

 lol

The lizard is a great figure. I'd love a couple of those to use as bodyguard/mercenary types.

I've never heard of either game  :(

Likewise, which is a great shame, considering the quality of these figures (and the painting of course)
I'll have to keep an eye out.
I don\'t know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

Thanks, guys! There are many cool figures in both of these lines.

I own multiples of the Trinity Battleground box and most blisters, but the Ram Python is the only one of the Battlelord minis I own. I think you can only get them in the U.S. at historical shows, of all places.

It's a long way to travel and would end up being even more expensive than buying metal 40K figures  lol

Maybe one will pop up on ebay.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for an online seller, as I wouldn't mind getting some of the other minis in the line myself.

Hey thats fantastic!

I really love the miniatures, and especially the toned down, gritty paint jobs.  I tend to paint in a similar vein, and someone termed it 'sci-fi grunge'.  That seems to work pretty well for these guys too!

What is that ship behind them?

I'd love to see some pics of that as well.

These guys are great. I saw them in the flesh the other day but I missed them here until now. Great job! I think the vehicle is the Superfigs Grav Tank.

Indeed, Super-Gibbon is correct, it is the now sadly discontinued SuperFigs GUARD Grav Tank.

It was beautifully painted and weathered by none other than Mr. Super-Gibbon himself. I will have to dedicate a photoshoot to it one day. Except that version does not have a tank turret, but a rather a resin topper I scrounged from an old Grendel terrain set. Now it's less a tank and more a hover APC.

I remember that now. It was during my "Russian Green" period. I was stippling everything! Good times.

Why is the grav tank discontinued?  I had heard all your vehicles got discontinued...

Well, they sold poorly, and the molds did not hold up well. The amount of work it would take to re-mold them and get them back in production would be more than we've deemed worthwhile.

I believe Mecha Gor is still in production. He has always been the strongest seller of any of the vehicles.

I'd love to see a better pic!

Anyhow....I'm the proud owner of a Mecha Gor....he's still in pretty rough shape, I've got him all assembled but have to do some cleanup and fixes before I can paint.  Still a fantastically fun model!

Too bad about the Grav Tank.  It's funny which things catch on, and which don't....it's harder to predict than the stock market.
