Sinewgrab's Occasional Space Opera Thread
« on: February 10, 2015, 05:32:27 AM »
So, while I will still be dropping some stuff in my Grymn of Vault 7 posts, I have been on a kick to paint small armies of various science fiction groups to use for Pulp Alley and either Stargrunt 2, or possibly No Limits (though I have been taking a hard look at Victory Decision), and I am going to just consolidate them in one thread.

This weekend I slapped some paint on my "Gray" Forces.  I started with some Tengu Grays from CP Models, and started looking for stuff to add. They were originally going to be Sectoids, but I didn't feel excited by that, and went a different direction.

To go with them, they got a heroclix Brainiac with the tentacles cut off for another project and an added Tau piece.

They were joined by the Grays' genetically modified warriors, the Slayers.  I used some of my favorite old figures, the Tyranid Hunter-Slayers.

And their great (gray-t?) Leader...

And for a smaller useful associate, I found some old plastic Necron Scarabs, and felt they fit right into the aesthetic I was getting.

And I put these together to form a small Pulp Alley league.  I have more Grays and Slayers to paint, but this is what I need for the start of Perilous Island, which my wife and I are going to play through against each other.

And the Scarabs were really really easy to get all crazy doing, so I have too many of them ready.

More to come!

Looking good.  :o  I'll have to get some pictures of my 28mm scale stuff to you. Maybe we can set a game up some time.

Wow, that Brainiac conversion is just what I needed. I finally can use that damn figure (yep, I already used his tentacles in another project).

Now, where do I have those scarabs... o_o

So... pretty...

Then the Independence Day invaders dropped the building.  lol

Thanks, they are simply evocative.

I have had that reaction before.  Glad to be of assistance.

Very cool, the Braniac Tau job is clever :)
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Glad everyone liked those...so here are the latest.

I just touched up a REALLY poopy paintjob on a reasonably okay figure...going to probably use her from here on out as the lady in the Perilous Island campaign my wife and I are playing...

And I have no idea why I went off on this, but here is another Star Wars repaint, that I am picturing as an intergalactic slaver for some reason...

And his bodyguard...

Of whom there are several - and soon, I should get the cavalryman.

And then, I will start blasting through all of the slaves/captives I have collected over the years, as one of my friends has told me he wants to have a heavily populated yard of them for an RPG he is running, and told me he didn't know where he could possibly get very many.  I just laughed, and asked for the due date...it is one of my odd collecting habits, and I only have less than half of what I own painted...
