Everything old is new again. KIt bashing old miniatures
« on: February 28, 2015, 02:05:21 PM »
I suspect I'm not alone when I say I have models dating back decades and its hard sometimes to go back and work with some of my stash when every day we get fresher more exciting offerings. Still, I dearly love a lot of the older models but really want to integrate them to on going army projects. To that end I figured I'd share some of my kit bashing of old Foundry, Mirliton, OG models with newer Perry parts. This I've been doing over the past month or so. Here's a sample:

Looking good, especially the leftmost fella in the first pic. Wish there'd been one of those bods in the perry boxes.
It's nothing, sir. Just a burn from a ray gun.

Looking good indeed :)
Its always good to look back in the lead pile and find old kits that mix well with the new kits and mix and match more than the new kits sometimes allow (i am not saying they cant be well mix and matched but just more options with the above)

Have more to post up but I had to shrink file sizes to upload first and ran out of time before work this morning. One of the fun things I wanted to share is how other brands can really be enhanced by doing this. I even got some Old Glory models to look pretty respectable. Additionally I've taking to adding small plastic shims to the bases of some of the smaller Foundry model to take the edge off of any size discrepancy with the newer Perry's. The end goal is to, where possible, mix older and newer models to enhance the look and variety of retinues.

 :)

Cheers,
Fred

Here are some more. Just got a resupply of green stuff. I think a few of these guys may be in need of some sashes too.

Very fine.  Good material for a Burgundian or early Italian Wars army.

Remarkable transformation - great idea.
I would not have recognised those OG figures - not bad poses at all...!!
Thanks for posting these.

Great use of the plastics to blend them all together. I like the  second crossbowman in the last image. He looks like he's either begging for some loose change, or threatening if someone doesn't pay up
