Send a Gunboat!
« on: March 04, 2015, 09:21:34 PM »
Does anyone make one in 28mm? I was rummaging about in the bowels of the Emporium and rediscovered, a type of armed trawler thingy, I knocked up years ago for a Commando raid game. It'd do at a pinch to carry the Naval Brigade upriver, just wondered if there's owt I can use to expand mi' flotilla?

:)

Have you checked under Old Glory 25s Shipyard heading?  Many a craft there, including some colonial options.  Not sure if they'll meet your needs but take a look just in case.

I scratch-built mine using a cut down and extended Playmobil boat and a lot of Evergreen plastic.

I have got to agree with Deedles! They are by far the best for quality INHO. Dave is a master craftsman when it comes to modelling and casting resins.

Size matters...  I converted this 15mm ACW paddle steamer from the OG range to a 28mm one in order to make it fit better on an average table:

Another one from the same source:

This torpedo boat was built on the hull of a small wooden mantlepiece model:

A scratch built French mini-dreadnaught:

One built on a plastic toy hull:

If you waterline ships, don't throw away the Bottoms, they make great submarines upside down...  ;) :

The Najewitz boat is truly lovely. Unlike so many other commercial models of open stern-wheelers, it even includes the power train. Too many other models lack any visible means of propulsion and just hang a wheel on the back without including any means to transmit power to it,
