I love how you cut up those old and really rare figs like you just don't care!

I got myself a squad of these new plastic dark eldar this week to do something similar. Elric the Eldar.
The sprues are really nice.
Squads and gangs are the way to go.
If you don't believe in lead, you're already dead.

40K pirates is an inspiring theme though. I know there are ranges of fantasy orc pirates out there, so I am tempted to use those with a few contemporary ork weapons from the GW range. Ork pirates that actually look like pirates could be a must!

I have some classic 40k Orks on the way if you really want to do this, mate... ;)

I was going to do a similar thing ,like Logan's world meets necromunda, squat mining gangs ,slavers, bandits ,cults ,etc.
Never got round to it,bought loads of miniatures though, lol

I have more than I think I will use too.
 ;)

Interesting conversions - the Eternal Champion figures are a good starting point. Cabling and a few minor touches and they're a great match for the RT space elves. Looking forward to seeing these progress.

Thanks, axiom.
Your own 40k thread has been most inspirational.
In fact I shall officially blame you too.
 ;) :D

Oh Christ I had a very similar thing in mind to o_o

I am playing RT but using 3rd edition rules, with VDR and creature designer etc :o

Well gents my next battle is Jadeberry Hill and I will try and take photos and do a write up.

I was also planing on using Necromunda for doing a Logans world type thingy too, and Mordheim to.

Keep up the good stuff, top notch by the way!

Glen

Thanks, Glen.
Go for it, is what I say.
 :D

They are mine and I shall do with them what I will.
Just wait and see the furore when I start chopping up the Melniboneans.
 :D

Just finished another one which I will post a piccie of at the weekend.
 ;)

This project is tremendously cool, and it has started in the best way ever possible. Looking forward to see progress! :)

Progress.....?
Ok, here is the last of the Eldar that I have been messing about with (for now, at least)....

Based on the EC Corum figure, this will be either a Farseer or the Ship's Captain, undecided as yet.

Now I just need to go back and tidy up the bits that the photos have revealed and finish off the green stuff work on the others....

Ehm, that last picture makes it look like a penis on a stick.....makes me wonder why I have to notice something like that <sigh>

And that droid thingie in the very first post, is a Ghost Warrior? I have one of those, never knew what it was called.

Nice work, noticed something which may be of some use for you, mantic sell separate heads and arms etc for their dark elf proxies which might be useful

Hmmmm....One of the things that may need alteration, I reckon.... ;)

It is indeed.
Lovely old sculpts and quite hard to find these days.

Thanks for the tip, Karl.
That may well come in handy.

Cheers, mate.

The 'cock' shall be removed tomorrow!
 :D ;)

(It really did not not occur to me when looking at it that it may be mistaken for an Eldar cock......
Some people, eh...?

OK, I think that I have finished with the green stuff.
Here are some piccies of the Explorator Crew as they are now...

Some close-ups.

Beginning with two of the Warriors.

As both of them are obviously from the same dollie I thought it would be a good idea to vary them as much as possible, so the second one did not get a cloak but received a loincloth and some extra armour plates instead

The next picture shows the other classic RT Warrior, one of my favourite sculpts of the period (I just love that Shuriken Pistol!) and the Ghost Warrior.

I only wanted to make tiny adjustments to this figure, so he only got some flashy epaulettes and a couple of knee pads.

Next up are the two officers based on Eternal Champion figures.
They remain the same as before, although Corum has had the back of his staff altered.... ;)

And finally the last two warriors.
The 'Scorpion Samurai' is as before but the Catapult armed warrior has had leg armour added and a plume added to his helm.

I am looking to move onto some painting soon.

The group look great together! The additions all look natural and I bet they'll be even better painted. I think the Corum conversion is my particular favourite.

On the two based on the same figure, if you wanted to distinguish between them even more, you could clip of a Mohawk and file the head smooth, or perhaps add a Geordie LaForge type visor on one?

Thank you, sir.
Corum is my favourite too.

I did consider a visor of sorts, and may still do it, but I like the hair and really want to keep it.
A bald elf just does not seem right to me.

Really nice sculpting on the additions you've made. The armour plates are really cleanly done, and those cloaks and capes are fantastic. Do you think that sculpting your Old West models has helped you when it comes to making these sorts of additions? They really look wonderful - looking forward to seeing them painted!
