Debating whether to do a scenic backdrop or keep them white (most of my entries will be of a similar theme).

It's a dilemma isn't it?
I always prefer figures on white because you can see them more clearly.
But LPL voters seem to prefer the storytelling of the scenic shot...  ::)

Do you think so? Seems like there's been plenty of cases where all things equal in terms of painting quality the votes went to the picture where the figures were up close on a plain backdrop.

I'll have to pay more attention this year :)
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

I'll just consider myself happy if I managed to get all 10 teams in .....
Probably using my 'wall backdrop' for some and I-have-no-idea-what for the rest.

Thanks for the update. I´m still undecided whether to join the challenge or not. Actually there is nothing finished that I could show and I doubt to get 10 teams painted in time...  :'(

Nice artefacts.

Matt, I hope you are able to make it. Wouldn't be the same without you :)

Peder, I don't know if you're back painting at the moment, but if you are, I'm ready for my annual trouncing at your hands ;)

I have a few flappers I'd like to get done for the the women entry, but alas!, I can't see how I would have the time.

By the way, a Big Thing is supposed to be a based, moveable item, right? Not a piece of scenery?

By the way: If the big thing had a crew of five women, would that be considered an acceptable entry?

Yes, the women can be crewing the big thing - providing the 'big thing' is an obvious fit with the theme / genre of the women depicted :)

It's a fine line. It shouldn't really be a piece of out-and-out scenery like a hill or a house. (You can include these sorts of things by way of a backdrop of course, but the big thing should be a gaming item rather than 'scenery')
It could however be a relevant structure like a siege tower or a crane. It's difficult to be definitive about where to draw the line. If anyone is in any doubt, please check via PM and I'll let you know whether - in principle - your big thing qualifies for the extra bonus points.

After some years being just an admirer on the sidelines, I have to enter this time!

Maybe this would be the burst of energy I need to paint my unfinished stuff.

Thanks for all the work to get the season going.

Go for it Verd

That was me a year ago and I didn't regret it (even if the glue was still drying when I entered one round)

This is beginning to sound a lot like that scene in the 13th Warrior....

I am ready to stake my claim for last place in the ranking: first 3 entries sent in.
Compared to some of the stuff seen in LPLs mine will be a bit like Plan 9 from Outer Space compared to Casablanca.... but my aim is to clear 50 models from my painting list in a reasonable amount of time :D
