I pulled mine out of the project draw. Need some more work but I think I am off to a good start with them.

Scout arms and shot guns with an old Necromunda heavy stuber.
I think the crews now only need at leas one more long arm each. (Las, Auto, or Bolter)
And then a another close in guy or two.
Then I will start to make the Cerberus capital management and customs. A Legal salvage crew who are going to be the "Legal" baddies. And then its off to make mutants and cultists.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Preaching to the choir, Modhail! Talking about 40K gangs and kroot bits takes me back: I was trying to sort out a kroot merc army when I lost interest in 40K, so had a bunch of minis and sprues lying around when Necromunda had it's last official hurrah. Kroot bounty hunter/'Predator' pack, using Escher rules - job's a good 'un. Pity the job only got as far as a couple of heavy stubber conversions; though I still have those kroot lying around for Victory Decision, Rogue Planet etc. (And now I hear rumblings of a kroot merc rerelease, like the recent harlequin stuff. But I digress.)

Quote
The crowbar is simply heated and formed plastic rod. The most hassle in this conversion is finding the right arms and hands, and then fiddling to get everything to line up...

Looks too easy! The plastic rod's not too difficult to pull about, then?

And Erik does it again. Some side project huh?  lol
What? All I've done so far is start to assemble two figures...  lol

Commissarmoody, I like that crew! The packs on their stomachs are an especially nice touch. I may need to swipe that idea...

Nope, just carefully pass it over a lighter or candle flame a few times to soften it. The biggest challenge is not overheating it, so it'll start melting or burning. Having a mug of cold water nearby (to set or extinguish the plastic) is a good idea.

Great stuff. This really is what's best about 40k these days: the small, characterful war bands. Yours certainly fits that bill. You're inspiring me to drag my paused project out. I plan to use Pulp Alley to run games.

Feel free to steal away. I need to find me some more kroot shoulder pads and chest plats.

Thank you guys!

As a result of a comment on another forum (suggesting they'd go someplace their mental health would be at hazard), I simply had to make an itinerant priest to occasionally accompany them:
(More waffle about my choices in making him this way on my blog, link is in my sig.)
Just a humble Itinerant Preacher, bringing religiosity to the backwoods of the local deep space stations and asteroid mining communities...

While I was working on him, I also started mock-up/testfit of the Crewboss for my salvage crew. Being the boss (and a pompous git!), he gets the fancy gear:

The bevor-style gorget on him is just a mock-up, the final version wil get a bit more contour added (the straight angles of the chest section will get a slight arch, and the collar/throat area will likely get a central crease added, just to make it look a bit more graceful). Naturally he will still need armour on his abdomen, knees and feet.

I'm also seeing if I can make a bit more advanced powerpacks for these two, what with one being a member of the clergy, and the other, well, a showoff...

As you can see, strongly inspired by the SoB powerpack, though these will be more pedestrian, less fancy versions.
I may still discard the fancy pack for the Preacher at a later stadium and go for the simpler, bulkier powerpack after all. It would be easier for the priest to have serviced in the backwaters he visits, as it would be familiar tech for the locals. Plus it gives me more room to stash gear on the model, tying him in with the backpacks GW's original Imperial Preacher minis had, as well as being a clear visual clue for a Void Suit.

Awesome!
I remember these guys the first time around. It's an excellent concept and I'm glad to see it getting a second wind!

Actually, I've been alternating between calling him "Key" (because he "unlocks" things) or Grox (As he has the size and muscle as well as the smell and vicious demeanor of one...).

I really should just pick one of the bunch and completely finish building him/her. I'm juggling too many concepts in my mind at the moment...

Liking the head used for the crewboss. Gives him a proper John Blanche vibe. :)
