Really nice figures. Like the basing. How did you do that? I often find really nice figures are let down by average base finish.

Awesome, they look perfect for 2nd El Teb.

That's what they were created for Anna- take a look at my Shooting Leave Blog for details:

More Conversions:

Fred Burnaby vignette:

All very much a WIP but getting there albeit slowly.....

I wonder how they'd fit on Empress horses? I'll have to try that too.

I haven't got any Empress horses to hand but I do know that the Mounted infantry were mounted on Egyptian mounts and that there horses would have been smaller then the original British one's. The Empress horses being larger than that of Perry Miniatures as you most likely already know.

I think I have a picture of a lancer somewhere illustrating the size of the horses accurately..... I'll look for it and scan it for you. I think that it may be in Go Strong into the Desert if you have that book by Mike Snook?

Darrell.

Oh, that's right about horse sizes. I do have "Go Strong", thanx. :)

What I was thinking is, Empress makes those "horse holder" sets for AZW, so it might be more convenient. Perhaps I could put Perry cav riders on the Empress horses, put Perry Camel Corps on the Perry horses, and make baggage/ artillery carriers, out of the Perry camels?

The Empress Horse Holders would require a lot of conversion work if they were to be historically accurate. Take a look at the Perry codes:

SB41- Dismounted Camel Corp/ Mounted infantry Command, standing and advancing
https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_49&products_id=2403
SB42- Dismounted Camel Corp/ Mounted infantry firing line
https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_49&products_id=2404
SB43- Dismounted Camel Corp/ Mounted infantry skirmishing
https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_49&products_id=2405
And:
SB44- Kneeling camels (4 camels and 1 Camel Corp sentry)
https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_49&products_id=2406

And co pare them with the Imperial Mounted Infantry:
SWB57, SWB58..... and you can see that the difference in the uniforms become is quite significant.

Of course, it all depends upon how fussy you are.

I'm in the (slow) process of learning to do decent conversions and it will be something that I will attempt to tackle further down the line- assuming Michael doesn't get to them first- fingers crossed that he does!  :)

I'm hoping he does too, I don't relish the thought of converting figures, not enough hours in a day as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather purchase off the shelf. I hope you slipped slipped Michael a large enough bribe at Salute to encourage him?  ;) :D
Some Engineeers would be a nice addition to their codes I think, suitable for constructing those forts they threw up, and of course zaribas and those watering stations at the wells.

I would not hold your breath, he's had long enough after all!
Some transport for the various gun teams would be useful too, but again I'm not holding out much hope there either. Another range they won't finish if you ask me.

Considering their output I don't think we can complain and let's face it, their ranges are more complete, probably more so than any other manufacturer :)

Anyway, one can always convert which I find very satisfying (as in the Mounted Infantry[this topic!]) and the image below which is a WIP and has been added to since this pic was taken:

I have to agree, transport teams would be very nice, especially for gaming actions where a column would be under surprise attack. I was hoping that the twins use Blood on the Nile for their gaming and therefore might want to fill in a few of the gaps in their range for units that appear in the stats for the scenarios in the rules. Hoping they develope OCD and want everything to be neatly rounded off so to speak! There are pics of maxims for example in the Omdurman scenario which obviously aren't from their current Sudan range.

Funnily enough I've just been working on that this morning.... trying to add straps to the camel holding the cannon.... might have to start again!!  :'( :'(

I also keep meaning to take some close ups of the Mounted Infantry.... I'll try to get around to that today!  :)

I'm looking forwards to more photos, Darrell. :)

Volleyfire!, I hope the Perrys fill in more, as well. I'd totally buy transport teams, baggage camels, and if they expand towards Omdurman, I'm in.

Really well done all around. Great execution on painting, very nicely done with the tint on the uniforms, and the basing is fabulous.

Do tell on the uniforms tint?!?

I appreciate your wizardry.

If you mean their coats then I just used the Foundry British Gun Grey Triad with extra layers by adding Vallejo Ivory or Light Sand- Simples  :). It's just about spot on and was suggested to me by Mark at Open the Sights Blog, which is workmanship that I would very highly recommend:
