Hi folks,

Lon has posted some photos of the upcoming Austrians/Italians for WW1. More Command and HMGs are in the process. These lovely figures are designed by the very talented Mr Paul Hicks:

I will be finishing off the officers this week and they will be off for casting next week.

I have seen the HMGs they had been made by Ian Armstrong who made the Tiger 2 for BAM. They are the best HMGs that I have ever seen in 28mm.

Glad you like them Patrick

great figures, but it is just me or do the new austrians not really match the existing packs from Brigade Games?  The current ones are wearing the standard issue austrian 'german' uniform with loose trousers gathered together at the bottom whereas these guys are wearing alpine breeches and socks. I know there was alot of variety in the units so these can be included without to much problem but it does kind of move these troops definately into the Italian/Alpine theatre more than perhaps the more general troops made previously.

Since the Austrians and Italians are being released together yes they are made to be on opposite sides of the battles. We had to start somewhere. Mark Sims did the original Italian and Austrians and by all means we intend on doing a full range unless no one buys them  ;). We should be releasing 2 rifle packs, a cmd pack, an HMG and support pack for each. The timing is prior to/for Fall In (Nov 7-9).

Feel free to suggest what you would like to see added to the queue.

Are those early war pike-grey types, or the other sort? I have trouble telling them apart. The uniforms had more differences than just the colour, didn't they?

looking at the figures I think you could probably paint them up in either Pike Grey or field grey, as it would only really be 'karls blouse' (late 1916) which would have only been issued in field grey.  These guys arent in Karl's Blouse, as far as I can see they also have a standing collar which definately falls more into early war (therefore pike grey) than late.  From the pictures I've seen of the KUK there was a great deal of variation in the dress often common soldiers as well as officers privately purchased items of dress so you can almost say anything goes.  I think the Kaisers Jaeger were in a different grey again - at least there dress uniform was.

I see they that they have and other potentials.

To represent late VSF miniatures and also to be painted to represent armies of some fictional/semihistoric or historic nation with similar uniforms!

Nice and welcome addition to their ranges.
