Scratchbuilt Shanty Town
« on: March 10, 2015, 08:20:27 AM »
While walking round the local pound shop I came across a set of foam dominoes.

And I know what you are all thinking, wouldn't they make a great shanty town that you could take apart and transport  8)

Well that's how my brain works  :D
Full write up here

I've got some wooden drink stirrers on the way so I can make some of the roofs wood for a bit of variety.

A good example of transversal thinking!
I would just glue the corrugated panels in order to make each roof as a single piece... that's more solid once in place for a game!

Absolute genius. Very simple, yet hugely effective! Can I ask which pound shop you sourced these at? I wouldn't mind tapping up my local branch and giving it a go myself :)

Found them in the '99p Store' my local one has dozens of packets left so let me know if you have trouble finding them.
I could always stick some in the post. Certainly wouldn't weigh much  8)

Luckily enough I have one of those stores in walking distance of me, which is a shocker for the island that I live on :P Once I recover from the flu will be raiding them - will let you know if I have any success :)

I did have them as one piece originally as you can see here

But you don't really get corrugated sheets that shape so I cut them in half. I did keep the cardboard backing on one side to maintain a bit of strength to them.

I also like the fact that this terrain is not glued together meaning that you could represent battle damage during the game with ease. Buildings could be collapsed and roof sheets spread to the four winds!  :D
