Oh, yeah, I was totally thinking clever, well painted collapsible shanty-town.  ;)

Great brilliant minds think alike, y'know.  ;D

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Excellent work!  I've go some sheets of thick EVA foam. Now I'll have to consider them next time I'm doing building terrain.

The key to using foam is that it does bend, so like with plastics you need a paint that is not going to flake off through handling.
To help with that, on this occasion I spray painted on grey primer first before painting to stop the yellow showing through during wear and tear.

If you can start with a darker or black foam then the base colour showing through is not so much of a problem.

If you make something remember to post up the results.

I found some thick craft foam I had planned on using in a sewing protect, but it was a little thick for it. It's thinner than these dominoes, but still pretty sturdy.
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Depending on how you construct them thinner foam would work. After all the foam doesn't have to stand up by its self.
I had seen the craft style foam sheets for a while but they felt too flexible to work for something like this (only 2-3mm thick). If
I've now got my eye on something like this

Halfords in the UK has a set of 6 (60cm x 60cm) for £15, the mats are about 1cm thick. You could make a good sized city block, fortress or curtain defensive wall out of a set like that!

Luckily enough I have one of those stores in walking distance of me, which is a shocker for the island that I live on :P Once I recover from the flu will be raiding them - will let you know if I have any success :)

Managed to find 3 sets at my local 99p store - will begin building some hopefully tonight - will post my WIP :) Cheers again for the inspiration

Looking forward to it.

One word of advice, although in this picture all of the walls are the same way up.

Two of the walls are turned upside down when you put the building together. Not a problem for the plain walls, but I found the windows I cut out ended up next to the floor unless you use them for the back, wall opposite the door.
Build one and you will see what I mean, don't cut all of the windows out beforehand  ::)

Can you give some indication of scale? Do they match up to 28mm or true 25mm ?

Here's a picture with some Void Viridian Marines that are similar to GW Space Marines and on the 28mm end of the scale.

The dominoes are 4cm x 8cm but since you're cutting out the details you can dictate the scale.
