Pith helmet and Colonial Adventures...
« on: March 10, 2015, 10:16:31 AM »
It's arrived, one khaki pith helmet, now I'm more than ready to go strong into the desert to smarten up the Fuzzy-Wuzzies. Herself says I look a bit of a twat in it, but wot's she know, I think my melon carries it off quite well.

There's nothing wrong with owning a pith helmet! They're a stylish item of apparel. My wife and I have pith helmets and wear them proudly at the various SF conventions we go to.  :D

I'm working toward getting an appropriate scarlet uniform jacket to go with mine...

Bought mine in Gettysburg, many moons ago and put a German Colonial administration eagle on it. Looks cool but  I think they are uncomfortable. But I would never part w/ it.

Pichers, or it didn't happen...

The South Carolina State Hat Museum approves this & all such purchases for gaming purposes.

This.

Well, thankee kindly Good Sir!!

My Mother always maintained I licked that Blarney Stone while kissing it.
How she could tell with me upside down in the rain I'll never know.
Another benefit of an Irish Holiday, Easter Week 1966, I learned a lotta history then.

Mom also opined that it was "better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass".
Master Sergeant Greathouse agreed, though he added "True, but either can getcha killed"

Where'd you find the German Colonial capbadge?
Vulgar curiosity forces me to ask, as the SCSHM also collected badges...

Great badge!!

That would dress up a drab topee to a treat wouldn't it just!!

Splendid purchase of an uncommon insignia, you did well.

I'm considering becoming envious, but since it won't fit my RCN one...

I may yet hafta add ya to The Hate List, don't give me any more reasons OK?

Very nice.  ;) While I don't have one of those of my own, I do have a wide brimmed sun helmet that I break out on occassion.
