FIW figure recomendation?
« on: March 08, 2015, 10:59:11 PM »
Hi all, this may be a long shot but can anyone recommend a 17thC, suitably heroic figure that is stripped to the waist?

I imagine he would be shirtless but wearing a tricorn and hopefully waving a sword and pistol.
Gods, monsters and men,
Will die together in the end.

Ah, very cool.  They almost fit the bill, cheers for the tip.

I hadn't thought of looking at pirate ranges but I shall now although he really needs to be in mitasses (yes, I had to look that word up) rather than baggy trousers.

You can always pick an indian, remove the head and glue the one you like.
I think its the best approach.

I'd kit-bash from plastics.  You could grab the legs and head from any 18th-cent. plastic (Perry, WGF) model, and toss on the shirtless upper body of a Celt (probably Warlord).  Clip hands/weapons and add the appropriate gear, there you go.

Granted, this requires sprues from several sets, so maybe not practical, but if you're invested on a couple of periods it could work.  You could always take the jacketed upper body that you cut off if those legs and use it for a conversion of a woodland Native American wearing a European coat...

(you could also do the exact same thing with metal minis of your choice).

Thanks chaps, I may have to go down the conversion path if I can't find exactly what I am after.

The Galloping Major Website contains the announcement seen below:(http://www.gallopingmajorwargames.com/page2.htm)

"Loyalhanna Outpost, who have been selling our figures in the USA, have decided to cease trading in mid May, meanwhile they'll be selling their stock of our figures at a reduction against their usual rate. Keith from Loyalhanna is a gentleman and has been a pleasure to deal with throughout our association, while saddened to see Loyalhanna go, we fully understand his reasons for the decision.
US customers old and new will be welcome as ever to place their orders direct through our online shop."

I am sorry to see this dealer go.  I will miss them.  But for those able to take advantage of being in the U.S., this could be a good deal to accumulate some more Galloping Major F&IW or Western figures.

The packs of Galloping Major figures are $12.00 each while they last.
