Wargaming Warrior Women: Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd
« on: March 13, 2015, 09:58:57 AM »
Hi!

The latest installment of the series covers Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd, a Welsh noblewoman who led her men in a guerrilla campaign against the Normans in the early 12th century. Wouldn't she make a splendid Warlord (or should I say Warlady?) for a Welsh warband for SAGA?
Visit https://wargamingraft.wordpress.com/2015/03/13/a-welsh-warrior-woman/ for more details!

Cheers

Good idea! Maybe Gripping Beast or Footsore Miniatures will read this, like it and sculpt her.

Great! I had no idea. We're used to believe that maid Marion was as feminist as it would get.
Some months ago I read that Viking shieldmaiden were also far more common than always presumed.

There´s a few..some more famous than the rest....like Freydís Eiríksdóttir
http://interestingpretties.blogspot.de/2012/10/freydis-eiriksdottir-viking-warrior.html

Is that really a female named "Walpurgis" fighting a priest in the Tower fecthbuch Illustration or an literal pictorial  Interpretation of the nicknames given to the common fencing stances and a reference to the Person who wrote it ? A lot of the other "students"  could be interpreted as being female looking.
Walpurga from  Vidilpoge(in new high german = 'fiddle-bow') a defence stance and the Priester-Hut (priest defense position)
The teacher/Trainer (who virtually always looses) is referred to as a Sacerdos (priest)
I knew the truck didn´t want to hit me...it had dodge written on the front
