Thanks  ;)

Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

...........and still those stupid backpacks  >:(

So the French didn't have the pattern 35 Musette, the backpack/haversack, and modele 35 Sac superieur?

I'd be more worried about the Senegalese Tirailleurs fighting in their parade ground hats.  :)

the 50mm mortar was never issued, due to lack of ammunition

It should probably be the 60 mm

the french marksman will never have a spoter ( the spoter will be usefull  ;) )

Neither did the Japanese snipers, but that won't stop anyone. ;)

- about the mortar :

-about the sniper :
that's history, not fantasy  :D

-about the backpack :
my main problem is the first action for an artilleryman, or a static weapon crew is to discard the backpack before action ...

- about the mortar :

The mortars in those pictures don't seem to be the same, are they? What is the top picture from? I know the French built a small mortar (LGI Mle F1) based on the Japanese type 89, but that was post WW2. The point is that one cannot tell from the models what actually was sculpted. They do look small though.

My copy of the French BA supplement shows a 60 mm medium mortar. Up until now, Warlord has only produced the 81mm. My understanding was that the 60 mm mortar was ubiquitous in the early war as opposed to the 50mm size. Why would they not sculpt the 60mm version first?

It may have gotten lost in the translation but I was agreeing with you. That's why I brought up the Japanese snipers.

Again, I agree with you, but you were not clear about that in your initial comment. In fact, most pictures of French infantrymen in combat show them not wearing the full backpack. Your second picture above shows that well. I suspect the artillery men were sculpted using the same dollies as the infantrymen.

How do you feel about the Senegalese?

top picture 50mm mortar ( 1944 picture )
the second one 60mm mortar .

and the 60mm mortar is manned, in BA terms, by a crew of 3 men  :D

and if you try to find something logic in the BA releases, why not producing a single AT gun ? ( 25mm or 47mm ? )  ;)

I am fairly staggered they don't have either of the French AT guns - I'd buy a 25mm just to convert a carrier for the Free French.

Well an early war/invasion of france supplement is in the works, I reckon we'll see a couple of new kits then at least.
