Surfaced VSF 28mm scale Submarine
« on: March 15, 2015, 03:09:43 AM »
I am back on track to complete a 20,000 Leagues Under Sea inspired project.  The one central piece that I want to focus on now is a surfaced 28mm scale submarine.  I am aware of the HLBS Disney style surfaced Nautilus.

I am wondering if anyone might suggestions for a surfaced submarine I resin or other alternatives?

Perhaps these?

They aren't large, but they certainly keep the feel.

Old Glory make an oval shaped waterline 25mm ACW Sub, and Brigade Games makes both WW1 and WW2 subs.
They call me "Point Cow"

There is this one, PMC Games available every now and then on Ebay:

The PMC range is now manufactured by Miniature Figurines, part of Caliver Books. The sub is still available (second item down in the Boats list):

For a bespoke submarine I personally use a 1/600th(Hindenburg style) Airship model,as my starting point.
Which will give you a water line hull at roughly 30cm long.
Its also a great starting point for a rocket style spaceship.Or oddly enough a ww1 sub hunting style airship in 28mm.
Mark.

I think 'tin shed gamer' has the right idea if you are that way inclined/able scratch build. A cheap second hand ship model inverted is another good start. Heck I think some cheap PVC downpipe halved for the waterline look would make a nice start for a hull of a submarine  :)

Cheers!
