Deadzone "Strongpoint" Contents?
« on: March 27, 2015, 04:57:33 AM »
Hello All,

I thought about putting this in the latest kickstarter thread but figured that it would drag that too far off topic.

Anyhow, MiniatureMarket is having a sale and one of the items is the "Battlezones: Sci-Fi - Forward Strongpoint Set".  The description on the MM website states that it has a new sprue "not found anywhere else".  I can't find any reviews and I can't even find the set on the Mantic website.  Does anyone know what on the new sprue?  Does anyone have the set?

Thanks

Here's a link to the sale:

I think I have the extra sprue. IIRC it is extra fortified bits in different shapes to the standard fortified sprues.

Yes, the one in the video is the one I have.

It looks like a good deal, but you might want to check out the "Adepticon" sales at the Mantic website, they've got a couple of pretty good deals going on.  Not including the new sprue, but the deals do have a wider variety.

Thank you for the feedback everyone.  I have quite a few sprues remaining from backing the original DZ Kickstarter, so I don't really need any of the KS sprues, but after watching the video, the 4" angle pieces could help me add some variety with some non-right angles.

Does anyone know how many of the sprues in the strongpoint are the angle sprues?

Well, since you only get one normal angled wall and one angled fortress wall per sprue, and the picture shows an octagonal tower, I'd suggest that four sprues seems most likely?

Sound logic.  So only about 25% of the set would be sprues I don't have, but it's the only place to get them, and it's on sale with free shipping.  Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.

Alternatively, stick a single dollar into the current KS campaign - I'm certain that you'll be able to get the sprues and battlezones you actually want for much less that way through the post-KS manager.

So I caved and ordered one right before the sale ended.  Wouldn't you know it today they added both the stronpoint kit and the new sprues as add ons to the current kickstarter.  Still the sale price was better than the KS or discount retail price, so still a win.  Somewhere there's a lesson in patience but I certainly didn't learn it.

On the upside, Mantic also loaded the kit to their website so the the contents are now visible:
