Powdered Barker Peninsular Game
« on: March 13, 2015, 12:58:45 PM »
Hi,

As the title suggests, we at Durham Wargames Group have been using a hybrid of Black Powder and WRG!

Much more can be seen and read about this game on my blog, Just Add Water:

Thanks for looking,
Darrell

Strangely so are some of our club lot using a bastardised verion of DBM/R/HFG to play Napoleonics for Dummies. Makes for some good fun games. Barker and BP have lots of good ideas, just need to make sense of some of the wording and make it relevant to the tactics of the time.
Cheers,

Yeah, there were one or two anomalies.... like no point in Forming Square until you're charged and then it being almost impossible not to do it (unless your name is Matt  lol).

Also, Skirmishers out front- normal Nappy procedure- there should be some kind of penalty if you don't deploy your skirmishers but not at present.

I expect as the games proceed we ought to see a solution to these problems.

Darrell.

When I saw this topic in the "Last Post" column on the Home page, the title simply read "Powdered Barker Peni..." and I thought, "Well, if we can't get rhino horns, bears' bile ducts,  or tigers' willies any more, what better aphrodisiac for wargamers than Mr Barker's manhood in granulated form?"

(Nice to see some big units in a Barkeresque game.)
