28mm scale parachute canisters
« on: March 19, 2015, 11:40:22 AM »
Hi everyone,

My mate Scrivs has got me into Chain of Command. I've dug out some paras I've had for years, and handily they cover all the required sections nicely.

I need to do some jump off markers for the force though, and hoped to do some parachute canisters. I can't find any in 28mm scale though. Can anyone point me to someone who does please? They must exist!

Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

Yeah if I've no luck I will model them, but they never quite look right! Ze german ones are nice, but as you say, they are German! FJ's are half painted so they will come in handy then.

You could try e-mailing Warlord Games to find out if this bloke ever got round to writing the tutorial on how he made 'em?

I would build one of the squarish drop containers, rather than the round Nachchussbombe. See about 3/4s down the page.

http://www.fjr2.be/Pagina%20E-26-%20German%20parachutes.htm

Use 4 square polystyrene strips (roughly 4mm) glued together and then glue round polystyrene dowel (roughly 6mm) for the end caps. Of course having an open container is a bit harder. To make it more accurate glue a very thin sheet of polystyrene between the square strips to make the slight separation between the sections. See photo 1a (above, in link) for what I mean. .Leftover 15mm truck wheels would work for the canister wheels

Mark &/or Mick,

Canisters and chute are all great. Out of interest, is the chute a metal or resin casting?  8)

(Not that it makes much difference on the table, am just intrigued)
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 32
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

I'll answer (only because Micks off line lol)
All parts are in resin, the cargo straps and,the open chute is designed to be used as is,or to be flexed into different shapes by warming the resin so you can achieve multiple looks with the same chute, and cargos Anything else is down to Mick, and Simon,as I only come up with ideas and sculpts, when they ask me too :D
Mark.
