RACM32's Ancient Armies: Carthage Spearmen
« on: May 05, 2020, 05:01:08 AM »
I am planning on painting up 3 Ancient armies in 15mm for use in DBA and other games. Specifically because I can pack them up small and take them with me on military deployments. I have never paint anything smaller then 20mm until now and it was a bit of a challenge at first. The first of the 3 armies I started with is Carthage, the others will be Syracuse and Roman Republic. I painted up all the mounted units (except elephants) and I have to say I'm pretty happy with the end result. Next I'll start on the Spearmen. You can see more photos on my blog: https://wyndehurstproductions.blogspot.com/2020/05/carthage.html

First my mounted General:

Next my Carthaginian cavalry:

Finally some Numidian light horse:

For DBA I only need 2 stands of the Numidians to cover all the options but accidentally ordered enough for 4 stands. Couldn't waste them so just painted them all.

Is "waisting" grappling like a wrestler, or embracing affectionately?
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

What RACM32 means is that he don't waste time responding to silly comments.
I do.

RACM32 keep them coming.

The older figs on Magister are Chariot, so you are both right.

I have the same HC with the round shields, purchased years and years ago, unpainted as yet, luckily do not suffer the casting lines.

The command stand looks good! Do the elephants!

Chaps, thanks for the reminder about Chariot and Magister Militum. Only yesterday one of my gaming chums said that his old Napoleonic armies were mainly Chariot and he wants to expand the. I had totally forgotten that Magister sell Chariot so his problem is solved.  I too had several of their Biblical armies. Nice figures in their day.

Good choice sin armies as they can easily fight each other if you need to rope in a player without an army!
