I really like the way you painted her and see no problem with the face. Lovely miniature and excellent paintjob. Your attention to detail of the base is great too.

The shallow features & narrow nose that is considered beautiful today was not the standard of beauty as recently a 100 years ago. How do we know what was beautiful to Mediteranian peoples 3000 years in the past. Heck even today folks can't agree on what is beautiful. BTW a very lovely paint job on a nice fugure.

Or perhaps, the sculptor just isn't very good at modelling feminine faces?

IMO absolutely NO , Fitz is IMO one of the best sculptors worldwide for feminine miniatures!

Maybe the head looks a bit out of proportion because of the camera angle. I got the mini too in the painting queue and she looks narrow in the head.

Agis, I will take your word for it

Steve Saleh, Mark Copplestone and wossisname from Hasslefree are great sculptors of female faces. This doesn't look in the same class to me, but as you say, perhaps it's the camera angle.

There's a skool of thought that cogitates the Trojan Wars had nothing to do with the gorgeous Helen and was actually about corn. Looking at that fizzog on Menelaus's missus... it's a theory I'm rapidly being drawn to!
