FIW scenario from John the OFM

Probably many of you are on the Gloire Yahoo Group, so I apologize for the crossposting.  But for those of you not on that group, I thought you'd like to read about this scenaio posted by John the OFM:

Quote

This is the name for a game I have run a half dozen times or so, using WRG's "Fire and Steel" rules.

The basic premise is that some egomaniacal actress is financing yet another remake of "The Last of the Mohicans", and the story is All About Her.  None of he movies so far have seen a driving need to follow the book slavishly, so why should we?

It starts out in the village of some friendly Mohawks, where the handsome young son of the local chief (Lou Diamond Phillips) is about to marry Alice Munro (Demi Moore).  Major Heywood (Heath Ledger) is in command of a detachment of Royal Americans and Rogers Rangers, and are on a goodwill mission to the Mohawk camp.  Basically, Abercrombie feels that he should get to know the woods and the natives.  He is dazzled by her beauty, and naturally assumes that she is being forced into concubinage.  Words, fisticuffs, tomahawks and bullets fly, and The Major flees, taking Demi by the hand.

He assumes that he has command of the Rangers, and the Ranger commander is given a secret note by the GM that he is to act as he thinks best.

They win if they get to the canes and flee.

In the meantime...

I add Factions depending on how many other players show up.  They include:

Hawkeye, Uncas and Chingachgook, looking for something or other.  Mainly wandering.

Evil Hurons, led by Magua.  They are mainly out to harass Whitey and the Man.

Scalphunters.  I give them the going rate for French scalps in Albany, and English scalps in Montreal, and let them work it out for themselves.

Some Jacobite exiles, escorting a barrel of uisgebeath back to their settlement.

French dragoons intent on collecting the excise/tarrif on said barrel.

Oh, by the way, the Major killed the brother of the Clan McLeod at Culloden, and they recognize each other, if they roll correctly.  I pass them notes.

Naturally I need a large table for this, but action goes on all over the place.

In one game, a scalphunter took a shot at Ms Moore because he could not get to her.  This was roundly condemned, and if I were thinking, something Bad would have happened to him.  At the very least, I would have revoked his SAG card.

Alice has her own special rule, BTW.  Every turn she is in rough terrain, she rolls on the wardrobe Malfunction chart.  You can see where this is leading...

Anyway, before I get my rules, do you have any suggestions for how to rate the Dramatis Personnae?

A-ha, so that's what this is all about.

Tomorrow I shall be sending John one of my Foundry Janes (as in "Me Tarzan, you Jane"). He said he wanted it to represent Demi Moore in a state of Clothes-Ripped-Off-ness (my words, not his).

I was puzzled at this request. Now things are becoming a little clearer...

Personally I don't think you could top Jodhi May as Alice Munro, but if I was the casting director I think I'd have Beyoncé as her older sister Cora.

(Not that Madeleine Stowe didn't make a lovely Cora, because she did.)

I think it's clear that Beyonce could be substituted for many actresses.

I imagine she'd have brought a coquettish charm to 'Elizabeth', instead of that cold Cate Blanchett.

I don't see why she couldn't take the Katherine Hepburn role in 'The Lion in Winter'. A remake, of course.

And that Greta Garbo movie about the queen of Sweden. Ideal casting.

Between the OFM's story and Conquest's free shipping offer expiring, I finally broke down and pre-emptively ordered a pile of Eastern Woodlands types, including the Last of the Mohican characters (as well as Pontiac and Black Hawk because they looked awesome.) Now, mind you, it is less than a week to Fall-In where I would have bought these anyway. But, as the Germans are wont to say: God wanted it. Who am I to argue with God?

Does anyone have the Classix Comix version of "Last of the Mohicans?" I really don't want to read the book again. Or possibly the Boy's Life comic version. I'm not picky.
