Beautiful brushwork.
The limited palette certainly does work for me.

Love them! There's plenty that's visually interesting, even with the limited palette. Beautifully crisp paintwork too. And I reckon the witch and daemon hunters are my absolute favourite GW range, so great to see someone else who has a soft sot for them too.

Thanks to everyone for the kind feedback regarding this latest batch.

Like the Construction Crew at the start of this thread, a number of other models lurking unloved in the man-cave have become obvious models to add to the Admnistratum.  I hope to get a few more included here soon.

And I reckon the witch and daemon hunters are my absolute favourite GW range, so great to see someone else who has a soft sot for them too.

Definitely.  A handful of models in the range are better or worse than the others, but on average its fantastic.  Already a classic range, those models sum up the Imperium as well or better than any other range that GW have ever produced.  The 40k vibe isnt to everyones tastes of course, but if it does appeal, then that range is where its at as far as I am concerned.

Do possessed folks count as non-coms?  Are Ghostbuster type models "sci-fi"?  Are big honking dimensional gates really fantasy?

These are the questions that I have been asking myself before posting here, but for my purposes the answer to all the above queries is "yes".  Except the third question, which is, in this case "no"  lol

The Realmgates (GW) and the Harbingers (Crooked Dice) have been prepared for use in a dimension hopping game scheduled for a couple of weeks time.  The game will be unquestionably sci-fi and the Harbingers will be non-combatant maguffins, so this thread is where it goes.

The blog post with more photos and the like is here.

Thanks for looking!

You've done a spectacular job with those gates. Very impressive! The miniatures are alright too  ;)

Wow, the best post in this topic so far. What a stunning idea to use these Age of Failmar scenery pieces for sci-fi gates. Perfect!
And the paintjobs are supergood as always.
That game you're planning already sounds like a blast.

The figures are every bit as good as usual, but the gates are an eye-opener: I had dismissed all the new Age of of Sigmar scenery as useless (it's still badly designed as a gaming piece, though: all that base area and there's only room to fit two figures on it).
Back from the dead, almost.

I like the Realmgates, but found the usual skulls amongst the flagstones and the archway friezes to be off-putting for other sci-fi and high fantasy gaming. I think your versions with their more subdued paintwork show me that they can probably be generalised without too much work though, so I may give them another look.

I really like the red-orange tones on the maguffin lady's dress though - a great transition of different colours giving some really rich-looking results. I think your painting has come on by miles since you started the "get stuff painted at any cost!" project.  :)
