(COMMERCIAL) Khurasan seeks input on new army
« on: April 02, 2015, 03:15:05 PM »
I've been very pleased by the reception of the Three Kingdoms Koreans and the Kofun Japanese, both of which sell extremely well.  I'm very glad that I'm helping you put interesting armies on the tabletop.  However, I've also had some that really didn't take off, like the Yayoi Japanese and the Inca.  Both remain heavily in the red and I fear always will be.

So I thought I'd take the pulse a bit before making another 15mm "ancients" range.  Any ideas as to what you'd like to see that's not available at present?  I sometimes get requests for Northern and Southern Dynasties Chinese--if so which?  I think they were rather different in appearance?

(ps: I put this in the ancients forum but am also interested in input as to medieval armies, "ancients" often covering 3000BC to 1500AD or so.)

Difficult - I think one reason kickstarters are an easy way to see if the masses are willing to invest in something new. Personally something SE Asian would interest me, but there's nothing pressing.

Regarding the two ranges you mentioned, the Inca has a pack of 12 at $8.99, while the Yayoi are a pack of 12 at $6.99. Any reason for this?

Personally I have always wanted to see armies based on the rise of Rome in 15mm, Gauls, Oscans, Samnites, Campanians, Etruscans, Romans, and Magna Grecia, no ones really doing it properly with complete armies that I've seen (happy to be corrected), or the sculpts are too small or too big and don't match any other supplier further limiting there ranges. the period I would like to see is about when Rome switched over to a manipular style of fighting, so some nations were still using the older hoplite formations and as mentioned before some the manipular formations and others still using the good ole fashion barbarian Horde attacks, I think this would be an interesting period in history to wargame.

I liked the previews of the Mid Imperial Romans and Ottomans you showed many months ago.

Just an opinion.
Instead of full ranges why not special packs of characters, civilians for ancients?
Seems that there arent many in the market and lots of things can be made.

Examples:

Roman street gangs
Roman civilians
Greek civilians
Cilician pirates
Gladiators
Spartacus revolt

There are so many options that its dificult to number all but just grab what you already have and complete them instead of commit on a ful range that may or may not sell.

I would be interested in some Feudal knights, spearmen, etc. Crusaders would be nice also.
