thinner is always better in my book... I'd rather do two thin coats of the base shade than a thick one... taking it up to almost water for highlights can give a nice blended finish, same with very watery washes... I tend to do an approximation of the good old three shades (sometimes even four) technique and then use a wash (usually the base or the shade) that blends it all together, if necessary touch up you highlights with a very thin watery coat...

and I am neither evil nor a giraffe... it does get confusing
I am very potty mouthed though

Well I've taken your advice on board and so far I'm.... Rather shocked to be honest! Simply thinning the paint seems to make for a much cleaner and clearer paint job even when I am just doing the first lot of highlights.

Its suprising how something this simple seems to make such a difference! Either than or one of you is some kind of Lead Wizard and has cast something over me. I can really see a difference already.

Also the black basecoat does seem to give more depth to a mini. Thanks for that as well!

As soon as I have something finished I shall post post haste and get your opinions, oh wise and secretive masters  ;D

Wow, so much help and support, it is a nice place here isn't it. All I need is a comfy chair and a fireside to sit by and I may never leave  :D

I am confused, but it has never taken too much to perplex me. But the potty mouth? I'm sure I have heard worse. Probably from JollyBob.
