Oddly enough, just last night I watched the 'religious' affairs program Compass on ABC2, and that episode happens to have been the story of Stanley Savage, a decorated Australian officer who served with Dunsterforce against the Turks, and who was instrumental in saving thousands of Assyrian Christian refugees from massacre.

I've been to Baku a few times and my new job means I'll likely be back again. I think I've been on the hill used by the signallers - the view looked similar but there are not many buildings left like that now.

A friend and I games the battle of Baku a few years ago at the show in Kirriemuir and built a few of the enclosed derricks seen in the film. I have a book on Dusterforce, but seeing the footage was brilliant.

Thanks!

Great find. I've copied the link elsewhere, with due acknowledgement, for a couple of chaps who will be most interested.

Note how lean the British troops are!  My Copplestones needs to lose a few pounds.  Wish somebody did high quality sculpts that looked like that!

Just think of them as "larger than life"  lol

Anybody make appropriate figures for what appears to be the native inhabitants of Baku?

Seem to be a mixture of Russian peasants and Persian (Armenian) types.  I'd fancy some of those wonderful Armenian militia.  Straight out of 'The Man who would be King'..."not before the 'uvers, not after the 'uvers, WITH THE BLOODY 'OVERS!'.  lol lol lol
