Epic Knights
« on: April 13, 2015, 03:57:07 PM »
So an e-mail about the league voting brought me back here. I'm a big fan of all the great painting that's going on here, and I wanted to post some pics of what I've been working on (and off) for the past year: Epic Knights (Epic, as in Space Marine Epic, ie 6mm, circa early 1990s). Rather than re-post all my old blog entries though, I figured I'd dump just the pictures. I almost have the Knights done for a 3k army, I just need to finish the metal and basing on 8 of them (hopefully by the end of the month). After that, I want to do the aircraft.

Great painting on such small minis especially the small chequered areas - you must have a fine pair of eyes  :)
Epic scale for large battles in WH40K type scenarios really does make a lot of sense and I would love to see some pics of these guys on a scenic battlefield sometime.
Best Regards
Christopher

Lovely stuff! I really likes those metal Paladins, and regret not getting some myself at the time.  :-*

Awesome.  I had a bunch of knights, never even played epic.  They were used as random stand-in figures for 40K.  I like the Errants (guys with power gloves/flamers?).  The Castellans are still funny looking.

That's a ton of old metal there - lots of firepower.

Thanks guys. I finished painting and flocking the last of the Knights over the past couple of weeks. I still might head back and put some Woodland Scenics course flock on the bases for bushes. Everytime I use that stuff though I'm never impressed with the results though. Anyway, here's all my Knights for a 3k game. I gotta get to my aircraft at somepoint, and head back and finish up another dozen knights at some point too.

The first time I used the old Citadel modeling flock it bled on me when I put my usual thin layer of watered down glue over it. Thankfully the models had already been sealed so I just soaked their bases in warm water until it came loose and I could brush it off. This second time I used thicker glue and didn't bother with the second watered down layer over it.

Really impressive collection, excellent yellows, and great heraldry. :)
