Void Pirates [Play-test Pics Added 5/26/15]

Because What The Game World Needs Is Another Sci-Fi Skirmish Game...    o_o

I am tinkering with another Goalsystem sci-fi skirmish rule set. This one will be simpler than Blasters & Bulkheads, and I will likely release it as an ePub and minimally laid out PDF so I can do most of the work myself.

It may be ready to test drive at some point soon....

Let me know if anyone is interested!

Sweet!

It seems I don't have near enough time to play these days, certainly not near as much as I would like that is for sure.
- No doubt that's the case for most of us, eh?! ;-)

So unless that somehow changes in the near future I'd probably make for a pretty poor excuse of a play tester. But that said, I am also a huge fan of all your Goalsystem stuff so at the very least when it is all said and done I'll be picking up a copy (or two).

Looking forward to any info dumps you feel like sharing to whet our appetites. :D

Cheers!

It's not that B&B is complex. I think it sits comfortably in the "middle" of the crunch continuum. But I am an inveterate tinkerer when it comes to my rules, and I like to fuss about with stuff. For convention games and demo, and lord knows, I've run a bunch of them, I been wanting to try out a "single matrix" resolution scheme. Attacker rolls attack, defender rolls defense, and then you know what happens.

This is sort of what I did with Chaos on Cronos, but much more refined, and with the robust campaign system I designed for Goalsystem Delves. I really like that system and I want to adapt it for sci-fi.

I will share more if I can get the rules doc in a state where I am comfortable letting folks test it. I am super busy with non-gaming stuff right now, but the urge to create always drives me!  ;)

As somebody with a boat load of unfinished rules and systems in a big folder on my pc I envy your tenacity in getting your stuff done.

Oh, you have a giant folder of unfinished rules, too?   lol

Yeah, a small % of my stuff gets done and released. A lot of other stuff I lose steam on, or just give up because I think it's not working.

Such is our lot, I guess!

Now that I have a cover, it feels like more of a real thing!

Kudos to Alexander Cook and Carrie Posing for a dynamite cover piece!

Does a pile of papers with scratchings with the germ of ideas count?  8)

I never give up. I always expect to come back in a few years, or, as most were cogitated before 2000, 'the next millennium...'  ::)

It IS amazing how 'real' a little artwork is; I know I now believe. Good at you!

I'd try it when it comes out, especially if it has a bit of a pulpy/space cowboy vibe!

P.S. Whatever happened to those essence wielder models designed for B&B?

My buddy bought the molds from me, briefly released them, then stopped selling them when he had some unrelated issues. So they're back in limbo, alas. I will try to nudge him into getting them back on the market.

Do let us know if/when they make a comeback.

Thanks

Void Pirates is ready for testing if anyone wants to leap in.

While proofing is good, It would be great to have folks who can commit to playing a few games in the near term. This will help me ID any major issues.

Thanks!

Well I'm always up for proofreading a new system, I might get in a solo game but I doubt my schedule allows for any real opponents right now.
