Bloody hell! Where have I been? Big thanks for pointing these out!  8)

I've never heard of Saxon miniatures!!

There will be quite a few of these joining the ranks (the Saxons and some of the Vikings that is) at Salute next year for the Hastings game and the 950th anniversary of the battle.

Who is the sculptor? They do look a but Patten-esque..... ??? ??? ???

Darrell.

Stunning! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these are just the start and Colin has more Arthurian period figures planned for the future, very good news if I'm right on that.

They are stunning, and may push me into a new collection.  What I don't quite understand though, is that Colin advertises the Vikings and Saxons as sets of Warlords, no ordinary fighting men.  Seems a bit odd.

Hasn't escaped me either that all the figures to date seem to belong to the social elite. Hope we will see some of the more lowly rank and file in the future also.

There's already a thread on these here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=71924.30

Unless these are different / additional? (They look like the same ones?)

They are gorgeous. Still wondering how they will scale up against my Footsore (nee Musketeer) early Saxons and Arthurians...

Edit:
Okay, belay that... I've just checked the fb page. These are new. A new collection of Arthurians, plus some new batches of not-quite-rank-and-file Saxons and Vikings for the later Dark Age period.

I think I have to get those Arthurians. They look tippety-top. Wonder if anyone will have them at Salute on Saturday?  8)

What's strange about this is that this, surely, is pretty much where the Pattens started with Gripping Beast back in the day: Dark Ages Arthurians, Saxons, Vikings etc.
Looks like Colin has gone back to his first love and is remaking the whole lot all over again - only even better than first time round (rather like Copplestone did with his Future Wars range, first for Grenadier, then under his own marque).

For my money, those early Beast figures are still way better than a lot of what other sculptors have produced for them subsequently. So personally I couldn't be more delighted to see these new arrivals. Gorgeous.
Let's hear it for second comings  ;)

So, I answered my own question then.... the sculptor is Colin Patten(?).

Even though his style has matures he still has a very distinctive way of sculpting, that's if I've got the right chap of course!

Great poses, full of action.

Looks like my force for Dux Brit will become a force for Lion Rampant too, just when I thought I was on the way to finishing too.

Yep, I thought I was done w/ my Arthurians, and now these...

Maybe some day GB will get the Arthurian version of SAGA going, finally!

 :o :o :o :o :o

Good grief!! Those are utterly amazing!!! I really don't need any more Arthurians, but some of those are too good to pass up on. They look like early GB figures with brass knobs on (as it were!) I always loved (and still love) those early GB Arthurians and these are just the icing on the cake. Welcome back, Mr Patten!!

And yes, will someone please get on and complete Arthurian Saga, as I might then actually get around to playing it a bit!!
