Disclaimer: MDF decriers need not apply.

4Ground just posted this on their facebook page.  I think it looks like an absolute riot.  I'm fighting the urge to invest in a whole heap of their "notMordheim" range.

Not too sure about the tower and its overall appearance as the whole 'pre-painted' thing does not work for me.
The whole look is screaming Mordheim, though, and I could see it being a great fun building to fight over.
A brilliant bit of design.
 8) 8)

Now, if I could just buy the stairs etc....several times over.
 ;)

You can buy separate stairs which are similar from the DMH range - haven't been on their page in a while, not sure if you can get extras for the notMordheim stuff though.  Between all of their Mordheim style kits I'm very tempted to grab a bunch and mix/match.  I would have liked to see this tower with the brick or darker colour.  From a gaming standpoint it looks really really fun.

Well, saying that is like a red rag to a bull  ;D

To be fair though I don't think that looks half bad, it's a good size and has various levels (having a switch over roof for a platform would be good).

The thing that bothers me is that they are sold as complete, and they are not...

Not bad though  :)

Lucky then that I'm not a mdf decrier, but a pre-painted decrier...  :D

Looks nice and haphazard, very Mordheim, but I do hope they also do an unpainted version. And I agree with Mason about the stairs. Could do with a few of those.

Out of curiosity, how are they not complete in your eyes, James? (Not meant as a challenge, just interested in a professional builders standards/frame of reference. I know I only consider commercial scenery kits as a starting point, rather than a final product myself...)

It's the roof mainly. This is sold as a complete model (pre-painted) and although they do suggest and supply tiles for the roofs it's not complete. This being the case the vast majority of them that are sold will be played with right out of the box  :?

Lets just say that I find that ever so slightly irksome  lol

To be honest though, they are getting better at hiding the joins for most of the parts.

The vapour that comes off them isn't that good for you either but I don't believe even one company mentions this in their blurb (happy to be proved wrong).

cheers

That I can understand, I have a similar "Hm, looks nice. Needs a proper roof though" first response with many MDF buildings.
I do like that they provide a patch of teddy bear fur with their Saxon/Medieval kits. (Though admittedly, I've rarely seen one where the builder has actually bothered to glue and comb the fur down...)

I didn't know the MDF still gave off toxic vapours once cut, I thought that was only while cutting? Good to know, I'll be airing mine out before building them from now on.

As long as they are sealed all over it's not a problem but most people won't do that (unless it's  coat of varnish).

Even bare MDF gives off vapours that can be harmful s if you have unpainted MDF furniture, get some paint on it asap  lol

That's the problem I have with MDF ( sorry, Elbows ). Recently I've seen some pretty nice walkways at a friend's house but the two-dimensional looks of the material means to me it just isn't worth the effort to give it some paint ( unless you really want to give it a big overhauling/kitbashing, wich means it might be more economical time- and moneywise to go for plastic or resin... ).
The tower looks good, but not for me.

It does look very nice, especially for MDF!

My only beef with their fantasy stuff is that it is pretty much priced at the same level as resin terrain which typically has considerably more detail.

Now, if someone were to do a similar building in high-detailed resin... (I'm looking at you, Tabletop World!)

MDF - HSE - Health and Safety Executive information link here...

If you think  a couple of buildings is going to exceed the PPM for exposure in the workplace and home - regs then...

Red ref Q4.  for EU manufacturers.

Fair enough but it's still not good for you (along with a lot of other things in our hobby). If I've had to work with for a day then I can taste it in the back of my throat for a couple of day afterwards.

Also to be fair, there isn't a lot of info regarding burnt MDF and the health effects but suffice to say, it'll be worse than if left alone  :-X

cheers

The pre-painted two-dimensionality gives these buildings the look of the old card stock citadel terrain.  Which can be charming.  But at that price point, I'll just spring for resin or build my own.
This is my boomstick!
