From whence came those Daleks?

They are plastic miniatures, provided as giveaways to a Doctor Who magazine a couple of years ago back when I lived in Hull (2010, if memory serves). Reasonably detailed for the price, and I don't mind them being of the "new paradigm" design - paintscheme-wise, I'm trying to emulate the cheerful technicolor daleks of the Cushing films and the TV21 comic strip, and for my taste, it works surprisingly well.

I just wished I had picked up a couple more sets, but at the time I wasn't really interested in Doctor Who.

I thought that may have been your supply.

Although I live in the States, I am a long-time Whovian. I heard about these and had a friend buy three sets and ship them to me.

You know, I like the Daleks but having them on bases just bugs me for some reason.  :?  I'd rather they were not based. To me they would look better. Still, a top-notch paint job!

Well, looks like I lost this round. But at least I wasn't just blown out of the water!

Great job on those Daleks!

Thanks a lot! I rather liked your entry - reminds me that I still have to pester my brother to do an all-aerial game of my EotBS vs. FS. I'll probably get shot up from here to Tokyo Bay, but it would look splendid.

Both entries are great. Especially when it is a head-to-head finish, the quality of the photograph has the edge.
XCIV, your models got my vote. In a sharpened version they would look twice as good (did it in photoshop). A lot of the crisp detail is lost in the blurryness.

Maybe one of the experts here could start a photographing tutorial?

There are lots of photography tutorials out there. I'm just a bit cack-handed at it. And I have rubbish equipment for it, as well. But mostly it's me.

Thanks for the vote, though!
