Frostgrave warbands - Little Prick the Wizard P. 4
« on: April 26, 2015, 08:41:43 PM »
I admit I hardly know about the rules or the background of the upcoming Frostgrave game, but I decided this must be the most exciting thing since Mordheim. That's apart from the fact that I'm a Copplestone fanboy.
A destroyed city of stone covered by snow with battling warbands. While Mordheim had warrior bands with hireling wizards, here we have wizards with warrior followers.
The ruined cityscape would be something inbetween an open dungeon and Osgilliath and everything is decidedly Mediaeval and not renaissance: no plate armour, no gunpowder. All of it unites several project I already had running. Right now I selected about four or five little bands on my table, most of them I will hopefully finish the coming few weeks.

Here's a first effort, note how I cunningly adjusted the colour of this picture to hide the unpainted parts and overexposure.

If you don't believe in lead, you're already dead.

I feel much the same way, and have been doing much the same - With any luck I'll actually have a warband or two painted when the game releases :P I've even just bought a couple of the Copplestone barbarians for a warband. Looking forward to seeing this thread develop.

I'm definitely eager to see more about this - sounds like a fun concept.

I do love the style of your miniatures and hope to see more.

I had a chance to see and play it at Salute and i´m so looking foreward to get it. It might help you in your project to know that for a complete warband of up to 10 figures you will need a wizard, an apprentice and a number of fighters, which you can choose from a list. They can be all of the same or different types. The limit of 10 can be extented by items or spells.

Max. 11 ;)

Technically you can reach 13 but it requires you to 'game' the system purely for that and it's not worth it at all.
So many projects..... so little time.......

It's also pretty impossible to start at that number.

You can't start with more than 10 at all.

True.
Was mostly starting with around 5-6 ;)

Mostly I took an apprentice, the ranger, the treasure hunter and the barbarian to support my wizard

One of the most effective starting line ups we've had does start with 10 figs, let's wait for the book to be out before we publicly dissect it though ;)

I'm a big fan of the Treasure Hunter, don't rate the Ranger ;)

Yep, I'm also eagerly anticipating this game. The tone and flavor seem pitch-perfect. I particularly love the wizard-centric aspect to warband creation. And like many others, I'm using Frostgrave as an opportunity to collect and some more warbands!

Copplestone Inuit are about the size of Grenadier barbarians. I think they fit in perfectly as a shaman's war party that came down to find legendary ancient artifacts.

Here is the snow-seer.

His apprentice.

and two henchmen.
