First Waffen SS
« on: May 04, 2015, 04:28:12 PM »
Hey guys, I just painted my first Waffen guy. I haven't yet finished the base and he needs some helmet decals, but because of the rulings of this forum, I'm waiting with those.

I'd like to get extensive feedback on the paintjob. I did a peadot camouflage pattern, dulling everything down with several brown washes. I usually see the dots much larger on most mini's so I'm a bit unsure. The pictures aren't the best, but I'm having neck troubles lately, so sorry about that.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

I really like that painting style. I find that type of camo hard to do without making it all become a blurred mess.  You have got the colours levels just right so things stand out nice and clearly.

My only thought is that the green could be a little brighter and maybe a bit more of it in some places but that could just be the photos.  Anyway great effort.

Nice paint-job on the Erbsenmuster.

The helmet decals were usually not applied by '44 or after, so you can definitely leave them off, unless you're depicting a veteran, who has managed to hold on to his original-issue helmet.

Thanks for the feedback. I fully agree on the green Major Tom. It was my main concern as well. I'll see how to correct it on the next mini. Though I will go historically incorrect and use the leaf camo's as well (I'm going for the 12th SS, which only have erbsenmuster, but the others are so nice I can't resist the challenge  :D)
