Pegasus and Andromeda (Saint Seiya)
« on: October 18, 2008, 07:38:34 PM »
Two more Siant Seiya (re)paints in 40mm. Pictures aren't very good on these, need to work on lighting so you might actually see the highlights on hair and armour etc...

Pegasus Seiya

Andromeda Shun

And a comparison before and after painting:

And as I pointed out on frothers, both of them are supposed to be men. Yes, even the girly one in pink (who incidentally was dubbed with a female voice for the first episodes, because *everyone* thought he was a girl).  ;)

Are there a lot of gender confused children in Europe as a result of these cartoons, then?

I fear the Japanese are playing a long game in their revenge for WW2...

It's one of these things that probably will only appeal to those who grew up with it.

I disagree. I was maybe 20 when I first saw anything of Saint Seiya, and I loved it. On one level I like it for its laughable ridiculousness, but on another, I admire it for its sincere naiveté. I feel the same way for many 70's and 80's animes, such as Kimagure Orange Road and Rose of Versailles.

Well, it thought me valuable lessons on friendship and self sacrifice that I never got to apply in real life.  ;)

I wonder if it would still be possible today, given the pretty high degree of violence.
