LVTP-5 in 28mm?
« on: May 27, 2015, 08:20:12 PM »
Hey,

Does anyone know anywhere that sells a LVTP-5 that would be suitable for 28mm?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LVT-5

Cheers,

MM.

Nope but it would be a good suggestion for Brent at Company B. It would be a honking great lump of resin though, make a bloody good doorstop.

I've contemplated scratch building  one myself in the past. Basic shape is pretty simple but it would be a big job.

I would imagine he has some maguffin that would create a hollow model, otherwise I imagine a plague of hernias and back sprains across the Vietnam gaming community.

;)

It would only be ~6"x3"x3" in 1/56th by my simple estimations. Bloody big by 'historical tank' standards, but pretty average compared to silly-big sci-fi tanks.

You are right... essentially about an inch or two smaller in length than a 40k Rhino APC, but otherwise of similar size. Oddly it is also roughly comparable to a M113 in 1/35th Scale too.

I'd be inclined to buy one if I could however. :)

Well if you can accept that they are totally different vehicles separated in time by a mere twenty or thirty years and look nothing like each other then, why not?

I think there are a few companies that make German A7Vs, presumably they'd make good stand ins for Panthers, after all they do the same job. :)

Something like that could be cast hollow as one piece, like a piece of terrain.  Or made with separate resin tracks.

Add it to the Cold War want list  :D

I'm sending off a few more Bush Wars models for casting today.  So prep/design planning for more Cold War era kit can commence!  Looking at the want list though it looks like the BTR-60p and those French Panards have adequate numbers.

And we also now have our French Crews for our two armored cars as well...
