For Ronin I now have nearly 80 minis ... painted ... unpainted? Maybe another 40.
These days I checked for the ClanWar minis, boing ... another 35 minis needed ... then the museum miniatures ... and I obviously need some Portuguese, too ...

And still more links incoming ... *sigh* ... but keep going.   :-*

best wishes
DK

Would love to see all 80 together.

thank! The upper link says 30 figures, showing 6 minis. Hm ... does that mean each one 5 times?
best wishes

You know, there are actual 28mm Wako miniatures from two lesser-known companies, but you'll have to make your own judgements about the sculpting quality.

Forlorn Hope (formerly Cavalcade): http://www.forlornhopegames.com/index.php/hikashop-menu-for-categories-listing/category/24-wako-pirates. Personally I have some reservations about the poses, musculature and weapons, but they would be my first choice anyway.

Scheltrum: http://www.scheltrum.co.uk/wako.html. Here's a website with a photo of some of them: http://mainly28s.com/review/+1550F.wako.001.html. Like so many of Scheltrum's figures, they have a somewhat pudgy look that would go well with the far eastern figures from Curteys (same sculptor) and 1st Corps, but might clash a little with the official Ronin range and other figures sculpted in the same style.

One of the Scheltrum Wako is wearing a Portuguese combed morion. There's an interesting idea.

thanks a lot ...
These forlorns seem to be quite cool, very slender though. However, maybe just right for some hungry wako.
The scheltrums look a bit thick-headed ... so to speak.

But both interesting, thanks again. I might have stumbled across the scheltrum before, name sounds familiar.

I guess the Forlorn Hope wako are kind of slender, now you mention it. For my part I just thought the muscles looked a bit too well-defined, although that may be partly down to the highlights. The "squatty" poses aren't really that bad either, on second thought. What does bother me, though, is that the archers' arrows look overdimensioned. That can be remedied by cutting them a bit shorter, but you'll lose the sculpted arrowheads (although those might be overdimensioned as well, come to think of it).

I've also just realised that the figures are based on the Osprey artwork.

I have the forlorn ones if you ever want to see a comparison of those with other models.

That'd be splendid.
Compare it to samurai from Northstar, Assault Group, Perry, Foundry some GW dwarfs or plastic SpaceMarine.Or just put a tape nearby.

Thanks

Looking at this post in another LAF thread, they are more slender than I thought them to be: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=67935.msg822889#msg822889

I guess rowing a boat all day burns calories :)

thanks a lot, that is all I needed. They look even ... emaciated (had to check up that word ^^). But then ... I really think this might be just right for Wako ... and another distinction.

Maybe even an advantage, because villagers will give at least their food voluntarily.  lol

Sorry for the poor quality shots. Still should give an idea of scale.

So here were have the following

Assault Group - Forlorn - Steel Fist -  Forlorn - Perry

And here we have

Forlorn - Black Hat -  Forlorn - Northstar -  Forlorn

Aye, sir, helpful as well, thank you, sir.  ;)

Well, I think I will give it a try and see what else might be of use from there. Right now I have to finish all the other Buntai.
