Sheesh - my pictures seem to get worse and worse  :?

It's only a matter of staging with this one and your previous entry, I think. An extra scenery detail or two like, say, a street light, a few posters, a wheelie bin, some vegetation growing through cracks in the pavement or just some urban debris would make the scene look less nondescript and better capture the imagination. Both entries are fine paintjobs but the skeletons win out on setting the scene and communicating a sense of atmosphere. No biggie.

And if I'm permitted to make mountains of molehills, a slightly wider shot might also have given the locality a bit more presence in the picture. Personally I don't think the figures need to be quite as zoomed in as all that, anyway. That's just a subjective opinion, of course.

Thanks Rhoderic.  My scenery for this just isn't ready yet.  I put up a couple of walls and stood them on the game mat, to give a bit of background.

For some reason I just can't seem to get the depth of field right with my focus.  Even at F22 I only seem to get about 1" of focus, using a telephoto lens and having the camera about 6 feet from the subject.  It was even worse trying to get a group scene with a wide angle lens at macro range.

My minis have seemed a bit small in some of my pictures, with detail not really standing out, so I decided to really zoom in and then crop the picture to make the figures as large as possible.  Reducing the size of the photo down to 800 pixels from about 5000 doesn't help, but then everybody is on a level playing field with that.

More experimentation required I think.
