Here are a few photos from today’s WWI game.

This was a meeting engagement between two small units, British and German. It was intended to loosely represent one of the numerous battles around Amiens in August 1918. I don’t have any consistent narrative, unfortunately; I just took these photos during play.

The game was played on a table out in my back garden. Sadly, this resulted in the game being called off early due to rain, which is strangely fitting for a WWI wargame. We used the Bolt Action Rules.










All told it was a fast, fun game. The game is intended for small unit actions in WWII, but it worked fine for WWI. I want to tinker with the WWI rules a bit, probably by making make the infantry sections a little larger. It worked fine for this little skirmish, but this represents about a third of my WWI forces, and I’d like to get more on the table.

I'm not sure which is more impressive: Cessna's lovely display of figures and terrain or the fact that scrivs has a collapsible gazebo.

This was played in an area in my back garden that is normally shaded with a trellis with vines; my wife loves gardening and I am more than happy to have the benefits of such a nice space. Unfortunately the vines won't stop pouring rain - normally not a problem here in Colorado, but lately we've been having near-daily rain that I didn't anticipate when I scheduled the game.
