More snow: Bois des Caures at Partizan, but no Olaf
« on: June 03, 2015, 09:15:04 PM »
As promised here's my handful of best pics from our Bois des Caures game at Partizan.

Team photo.  The fixed grins/grimaces are down to having to hold poses for a long exposure, Victorian style...
Interesting to note we all chose to wear different shades of blue (or maybe it was just the lighting in Kelham Hall? :))

Bit of a panorama at the start of the game: Boche on the right, French positions under bombardment centre left.  We were re-using Tom Webster-Deakin's excellent explosions that he made for the Keren game last year.

The opposing forces.  We decided to put all the figures on the edges of the table (but not in play), and deployed models to the jump-off points when required, this giving some visual spectacle as well as a game of CoC.  I didn't realise we had painted so many French between us!

Germans advancing during the game.

Huns swarming out of a German held entrenchment, one of the key jump-off points during the game.  This is an Amera piece which painted up very nicely.

The French position late in the game; Col Driant has left his command post to rally his last remaining Chasseurs, leaving a lone sniper on the roof to pick off Germans.

Driant rallies his last few men before ordering the inevitable retreat.

After this it was pretty much game over!  I thoroughly enjoyed the game, great to see so many people (indeed there were a few moments when it felt like queueing for the January sales), and good company throughout.

Cheers

James

Indeed, and you seem to have got that Nash look to the game, especially in the more panoramic views, that you were looking for too James   :-* :-* :-*

Thanks Phil and Darrell!  Next project: how to create a shell-holed landscape for 12mm figures... :)

You can buy hot wires that have a kind of rectangle shape at the end, this would be brilliant for cutting out trenches James.... it'as in the new Making Wargames Terrain book by Paul Davies, Pen and Sword....

Rally great looking game.
Love the terrain.
Thanks for sharing.
You are making it harder not to get my WWI troops out and play.
