2/24e Regiment de Ligne - Talavera
« on: June 10, 2015, 08:03:42 AM »
Hi all,
With the completion of the 2/24e Ligne I only have 22 battalions to go. The 24e Ligne were involved in the Peninsular War from June 1808 when elements of the regiment formed part of a provisional battalion under General Reille.

Following Bailen and Napoleon's re-invasion of Spain in November 1808, the 24e Ligne were very busy as part of Victor's new I Corps leading up to the battle of Talavera.

If you would like to know more then just follow the link to JJ's.

Your usual standard Jonathon, good to see a fanion !
I wussed out on the accuracy and decided that all my battalions deserved eagles and tricolours

Hi gustav,
Thank you.

Well the likelihood is that many second battalions that had Eagles wern't very happy to hand them in and were probably carried for as long as they could. I saw the GMB fannions and thought they looked very nice and decided to do it this way as it also makes identification on the table easier when it comes to doing AARs.

I agree, very nice.  You say 22 regiments to go  :o  ???   How long did these take you?

Thanks chaps,
The plan is a battalion each week, give or take, so about 6 months work.

well to be honest when I say wussed out - I did in fact try the GMB fanions myself

However I made such a pig's ear of putting the battalion number on it that I gave it up as a bad idea and persuaded myself that the the tricolors were better :)
