Got our first big Lion Rampant game in last Sunday, and it was a big success! We played out a "destroy the siege machines' scenario with 72 points per side.
Handled 7 players with no problem. Everyone had a good handle on the rules within the first hour. Good streamlined mechanics that let the players concentrate on tactics and boasting, instead of looking up rules.
No problem using a mix of single and multi based stands.
A few pics of the game, finally made a sheet that matched the hills pretty well. Going for a 10 player game this Sunday.

Looks great  8).

I do hope that Lion Rampant turns out to be a hit at our club too as the rules are superb. One can always modify the activation rules if one wants  ;) :)

Darrell.

Hey Slayer,
We allowed all the attacker retinues to go till each had failed a roll,
then play switched to the defender retinues. Moved very quickly.

Very nice looking game !

When we run multipalyer games at the Club we use a activation card for each retinue, sound like you approach make it even quicker at least if several players can move their retinues more or less at the same time.

We regularly play 5-6 player games as written, we just roll for the order of activation each turn. It doesn't seem to slow things down very much and in all-against-all games someone's bound to shoot/attack you whilst you are waiting for your turn. Plus you have the opportunity to heckle the activating player's poor dice rolls!

More players are being drawn to Lion Rampant. Last Sundays game was up to 10 players. I think we had about 624 figs on the table. It was all I could do to get the palisade and new fields done in time.

Looks like a sweet board with plenty of variation for movement. Great visual interest.

With so many people, did folks feel they were involved enough of the time? We haven't tried this system yet but would be interested in running about as many players as you had.

Watching to see next week's game,
Jevenkah

Hey Jevenkah,
Each player had their own force, but the players were split into two teams.
No card card or initiative activation. I find in big games like this players ten d to wander off while waiting for their turn.
Instead.
One team went until each player had failed an activation or had finished all their activations. Then play turned to the other side.
So if you weren't moving the you were probably rolling to defend or make courage tests.
The game lasted from 6pm till a little after 9.

Whereabouts in Bucks are you? We play a lot of Lion Rampant at Tring Club since I introduced the rules about 6 months ago, if you wanted to try a game out we could arrange something.
