Bringin' back some old games...
« on: June 10, 2015, 01:34:45 PM »
I decided I wanted to dig through and play a bunch of games I hadn't touched in ages. I started with Battlefleet Gothic!

Luckily, I still had lots of Chaos and Imperial ships in my stash. The prices people are asking for these out of production Specialist games models are insane!

I'd like to see you do Epic (Titan Legions or Epic40k - by first real wargaming love) or Necromunda, but I'm not honestly sure how well they'd film... BFG looks pretty cool though, and I'm interested in seeing how you get on.

I'd *love* to see you tackle Dark Age Apocalypse however. There's almost nothing substantial online about it, but nearly every time it's mentioned somebody pipes up how great and well-balanced it is. In fact, I'm sure that if you ask nicely, you might get a bit of CMON sponsorship for it too. ;)

I'm actually in the process of recruiting 4 folks to play Dark Age. :) Tim at CMON has been bugging me to do it forever.

As for Epic, it's already in the works! I've a couple friends who are die-hard Epic fans and are in the process of finishing paints so we can bring it to the studio.

I've still got Imperials, Marines and Chaos Space Marines painted and ready to go!

Great plan I still own and play many of the old games. When you play epic what version of the rules will you play. I never cared for the last incarnation. I preferred the square bases and the use of Cards to define units. Epic was in my opinion the best game that GW made a close second was Warmaster.

My hero!  :D

Also, I really liked your WHFB stuff at MWG, and I hope you carry it on. Even if 9E isn't to your liking, there's no reason to stop playing an earlier edition or even adding a few units to your old armies in order to vary your lists a bit more.

Anyway, good work and thank you - I'm very much enjoying your efforts so far! :)

Thanks guys!

I will likely be using Epic: Armageddon as the ruleset. I still have Epic: Space Marine, but I never enjoyed the cardboard clutter. I do at some point want to unearth all my BeetleBacks and play Adeptus Titanics though. :D

As for Warhammer 9, I've got big plans for it. I have a group of talented locals and I think we're going to do 'A Tale of 4 Gamers' straight from White Dwarf in the nineties, building each couple of weeks as we  go!

Fair enough. :)

My Epic "era" was SM2E, TL and E40k. I never got into E:A, although I keep hearing it's great. I actually loved E40k for it's simplicity and freedom, but felt that:

1) It needed a separate value for Firefight, as using Firepower wasn't really appropriate.

2) Special Abilities and Special Weapons needed some tweaking and expanding really.

I will therefore be very interested in seeing how you get on with E:A.

As for WHFB 9E, well... I'll wait and see like everyone else I guess!  8)

Sorry to hear that. I did not like the figs in a line and the way you construct units made it feel like you were building for fire power alone. I did like the suppression fire things but once again I think they took a great game and complicated it. Epic Space Marine was the set that gave the feel of playing WH40K on a grand scale I dont feel that way with Epic Armageddon.  :?

I'll still watch however as this is my favorite Games Workshop game  :-* :-* :-* so bring on the epic events
