TSATF does it still exist ??
« on: May 31, 2007, 08:01:14 AM »
Greetings,

yesterday I started checking and rearranging my bookmarks. And I "stumbled" over the the faboulous pages from the  Major General Tremorden, a site I check now and then, but not for a long time now. It reminded me that I wanted to buy the rules played (The Sword and the flame/TSATF)... but apparently the online store is no more active.
Does someone, anyone know if there is still a possibility to get those rules ?

I got my copy via Amazon, they used to advertise through it. Try there.

But they are like gold dust now, I think they are supposed to still be in print.

The Broms (Larry Brom is the author) live in New Orleans, so were mildly affected by the recent hurricane activity.

Excellant set of rules ! , use them a lot for my Colonial games - NWF & FFL . Give "fun" games , easy to use and lots of "personality". Not sure they are to everyones tastes - bit old fashoned , but I like them a lot ! :)

One of my friends ordered a set and it took five weeks to arrive from Sarge3.  The delay was due to the hurricanes down there.  If you order it, you'll get it, but you might need to be patient.

Not sure which versions you are looking at, but the 20th Anniversary version is probably the better bet.  Besides that, there are many versions and adaptations of these rules beyond the late 19th Century colonial period.  You may find some adaptations for other eras free online, though I haven't looked in a while.  Some major variations include using smaller units than the 20 man units called for in the main rules.  Adjustments to firepower and charging need to be made when using smaller units.  Basic to these rules is the randomness of when each unit moves or fires.  That produces some of the excitement.

no on the sergeants 3 site there are two 20th aniversary editions one $33 and one at $28 both look the same and there is nothing to say what the difference is.

I got my copy of TSATF many many years ego.  As I recall the rules came in a box with a few soft plastic Zulus, deck of cheap cards, and dice.  I would imagine they are doing that with the $33 rules.  The $28 rules may be just the book.

I think one price is for international postage and the other US. I ordered the scenario pack (which is very good) but it took a couple of months to arrive to me in New Zealand. They are slow but I ordered just before the hurricane season which delayed things a bit.
