Many thanks for positive feedback!

Yes, Dragon Rampant is the fantasy version of Lion Rampant. It plays pretty much identically in terms of basic mechanics - very minor differences, plus a host of additional fantasy elements to add in (including magic).
I think the key thing to do is to try to customise the troops to fit the typical stereotypes, e.g. add 'sharpshooter' (+1 to hit) and 'fleet foot' (move through difficult terrain without penalty) for Wood Elf archers... Make Black Orcs 'offensive' foot, rather than typical spearmen, so they attack better...

Lovely stuff! I hadn't seen those old wood elf cavalry before. They look superb painted like that. Can't wait to see the finished retinue in it's entirety.

Here's a unit of 'Elite Foot' for my Dragon Rampant Wood Elves. The unit was painted differently to the knights, as I undercoated white. The mail was then painted black and dry brushed with whatever GW currently call the old Boltgun Metal and Chainmail. I then base coated everything else with mid-tone colours before brushing on Army Painter Strong Tone dip. i left this 48 hours before dullcoting the models. I then highlighted up using the base coat colour plus an extra lighter highlight on everything. This is slightly different to my usual dip and highlight approach, which base coats with the lightest shade and only highlights once with that same shade. However, I think this new method looks closer to my old Dallimore-esque technique - not quite as good, but much closer! The shields were layer painted - never use dip on shields!!

The models have mostly been converted with wire spear shafts and spearheads from the current High Elf spearmen, or similar...I got them from one of the online 'bits' people... I bought a couple of the spearmen damaged off EBAY with knackered swords so decided to buy and convert...

The pics were a bit rushed, but I hope you get the idea.

In game terms they function just like Foot Men-at-Arms in Lion Rampant and can be used to represent a prince and his bodyguard, either as a unit of 6 like this or as a unit of 3 with each counting as having 2 wounds. I think I'll field them in a unit of 6 as they look better that way.

Next up, the first unit of archers...

The Elven Elite look appropriately OUTSTANDING...WONDERFUL brushwork & color choices once more. The six pointy ears are an attractive unit AND appearance is The Thing. VERY WELL DONE!

Good stuff.

I am also looking towards Dragon Rampant, as my collection of painted fantasy grows. There's something about the unit sizes and force organisation of that game that just seems neat.

The spear elves look great - Your technique sounds very similar to my own (Basecoat, wash, basecolour highlight, extra highlight) and the results definitely work great! Looking forward to seeing even more stuff :)

(Oh, that huge banner is also way cool.)

Yes, the banner was challenging, but fun to paint.

Bloody lovely.

I've got a few Oldhammer figures that would fit seamlessly into Dragon Rampant.  ;)

Nice! The spearheads fit very well. Can't make out the joins.

Going back to the first minis: no gaming problems with multibased or counts-as-several minis?

No, the author deals with the former in the rules and the latter is essential if you wish to include big nasty beasties like Trolls, Treemen, Demons, etc.
