Very nice - a few more, and you'll be able to play the old Advanced Hero Quest adventures too! Also, that old WD Skaven campaign... ;)

The name's O'Mancy. Thread O'Mancy.

Because I'm still plodding along with this project, which may indeed turn out to be a lifelong endeavour...

Anyhow, here's a Skaven Warlord to lead my Ratties. Imposing figure (a tad impractical for a burrowing dungeon-dweller, yes-yes), but terrible to photograph. Where's his perfect angle? There isn't one!  lol

Managed to plough on with more painting this weekend. Amazing, I know! Behold, one of the oldest of old skool figures in the collection, the Grey Seer:

Had a lot of fun with this guy, although the casting I bought off eBay left a lot to be desired. It had obviously been stripped of paint, there were lots of little fibres stuck to the metal (some of which I couldn't remove), and the lead was a bit pitted - hopefully not the dreaded lead rot!

Next up, I need to paint six more Clanrats, and 12 little rats. Then I'll take a break from Skaven for a bit and maybe paint another hero. My old Imperial Noble is giving me wistful looks from the painting table...

So I finally completed the laborious task of cleaning up all those little critters - bats, rats and spiders. 36 in total. I was going to just paint the rats for now, but I figured why not try to do them all, assembly-line style.

Here's a quick colour test:

Could be neater, especially the bat, but these guys are so 'throwaway' in game terms that it seems daft to labour too long on them.

Anyway, a quick head count of my collection so far has gotten me rather excited. This project has been plagued by distractions - zombies and skeletons, bonus heroes, mummies, trolls, etc. So much so that I lost sight of the original goal, which was to paint a replacement core set first. Well, it turns out that when these 36 critters are done, I'm only 6 Skaven Clanrats away from that goal.

So here I go - a complete Warhammer Quest set by the New Year? Maybe even Christmas for some Yuletide gaming? Wish me luck!

Just found this thread and WOW! I am IMPRESSED!

Great minis, great paintjobs. It turns back time and I find myself sitting on the floor at a friends house, playing Warhammer Quest (but without paintjobs).

Many thanks for the kind words. And yes, this project is a pure nostalgia trip. I think it'll keep me busy for years...

BEHOLD! twelve prepped and undercoated doors...

Okay, so not the most exciting update for content, BUT very exciting for what it represents. Because it means I now have everything assembled and in some stage of painting for the final run-in. Soon, I'll have a base set of Warhammer Quest to play with...

Funnily enough I do have that issue, along with all the cards and floorplans. Never played it - but now... :-D

Just gone through every page, enduring the cruel, lingering wait for snotlings to appear. Well done that man! It's an interesting timeline of WH models through the ages. The red period-ness of WHQ never excited me but even those models look ok with a sensible colour scheme.
